i bought a rws 34p the other day and it came in today.
i then cleaned the barrel using hoppes 9 solvent. after which i then ran cleaning cloths through the barrel until they were clean. about 10 minutes later i read that solvent is very bad.
help? |

| I may be wrong but the thing you need to be most concerned with is the seals. Make sure you have cleaned them to get all the cleaning solvent off them as the longer the solvent is on them the more damage that can be done. |

The solvent won't hurt the barrel- but as donec mentioned- it's the seals. Remove the seals anywhere you got solvent and clean them off thoroughly.
No regular gun cleaning products or tools on airguns! |

so long as it didn't go into the transfer port you're ok.
don't do it again. i use rws bore cleaner which is basically
windex.
an oil like that in the guns internals will cause a lot of
detonation and will damage the seals.
you're good only cleaning it every 5000 or so shots IMO. |

Welcome to the forum, viperman5000.
The guys are right about the seals. Petroleum products will cause some materials to swell and degrade, but if you got it cleaned off right away you should be O.K. A combustible material with a low flash point could also diesel or detonate if it gets in the chamber ahead of the piston. |
