Hi all. I just opened my Crosman Phantom 1000 tomight and Have a question or two. First It was quite dificult to break the barrel. I actually had to bump the top of the barrel to open it up. Is this gun normlly that tight? and also, when I pull the barrel down as to cock it, I hear a kind of squeaking sound. Is this also normal or am I in need of some silicone oil? Sorry for teh newbie questions, any help would be greatly appreciated!

| It will loosen up after you use it for awhile. The squeaking could be anything- lube the joints around the barrel block and if you have some silicone lube,a drop or two in the chamber won't hurt anything. |

I had problems with sloppy barrel lockup with my G1, and I have read about others with similar problems. Tight is good.

A grinding metallic sound would be bad - I wouldn't worry about squeaking. You have plastic washers in the barrel pivot, a plastic piston seal, and a little plastic wheel on the cocking linkage that rolls against the plastic stock (excuse me, "synthetic"). Break out the silicone just as Eric suggested. |

| Got one for my g-boy his was the same way,but I'm sure it will break in aftr a while,nice little shooter(loud) & like they said tight is good. |

Yes. And Crosman G1. And Remington Summit. And Remington Vantage. And Chinese B18/B19. Same trigger as many Gamo's. |
