I learned that George Armstrong Custer had a very bad day when he visited - because he was stupid. I tried to be a little more respectful, and things went fine:
I learned that just because it's summer in Minnesota, it ain't necessarily so above 6000 feet:
The lakes up there haven't thawed:
In fact, it was still snowing while we were there:
Now I'm a Minnesota boy, and I own literally dozens of ice scrapers. Do you think I'd be smart enough to bring even one? I learned that a Wheat Thins box will work, but you have to work really fast or it gets soggy:
Yellowstone is so named because there is lots of sulphur. Sulphur in the rocks, in the dirt, in the water, and in the air. Stinky sulphur. I learned to not park the car above a storm sewer, because it funnels the stink right to you:
I also learned that I don't like the Mopar transmission that we have, at least for the mountains. The only choices (besides "D") are third gear and first gear. Third doesn't provide enough engine braking, so you wind up using the brakes. First is too much, and slows you to a crawl. |

Glad you enjoyed your trip slavia and thanks for the photos, it's nice to see photos that aren’t from the tourist agency.

O.K., then - these weren't park service approved, either:
The air pressure really is less up high. I read something that the boiling point of water in the park is 93 degrees Celcius:
We stayed at the Old Faithful Inn, which was the first hotel there (1904). Speaking of stink, they provide leaf and bear soap to de-stinkify the guests:
Note the advanced climate control system:
I take issue with any number of my government's programs, but any expenditure to keep from getting cooked to death is fine by me:
