I'm getting tired of waiting on my RWS 350 to arrive from back order from Cabellas, so I'm looking into a pistol. Even w/no hands-on experience w/RWS, I've been convinced they are worth the $ based on posts here so am looking at buying an (in-stock) pistol...the RWS 5G: http://www.pyramydair.com/p/rws-model-5g-magnum-air-pistol.shtml any thoughts? This would be a plinker for me and maybe a small bird killer.
I wouldn't mind a repeater, but don't like the idea of C02 due to their FPS drop with repeating shots...seems I might as well cock myself and get reliable fps. |

It does seem to have plenty of power but getting it on target can be a problem unless you use a rest, like all spring piston guns it could take a bit of getting used to, with a bit of pratice it could be a nice gun.

I own one.
I like it alot.
I have put about 2,000 rounds through it in the 3 months of owning it.
It does not like Daisy pellets. sends them flying.
It seems to like Crosman Premier Hollows pretty good. I have has the same results with the RWS field H-points. (did a side by side comparison with the two pellets)
I shot it last night... about 80 pellets through it. There is a small kick. My groupings are pretty tight. The size of a quarter at 10 yards at a paper target
It does shoot a bit high. I need to lower the sight.
The build quality is great. It is a large pistol.
Great for tin cans in the back yard.
It has killed two squirrls, but I usually (98% of the time) grab my rifle when a squirrl is raiding one of the bird feeders. The rifle is scoped and I only pull the trigger when the crosshairs are between the shoulder blades of those tree rats.
I am happy I purchased it. Fun gun. Well balanced.
I am sure at least 50 rounds will go through it today. It is a fairly quiet gun too.
I also own a Crosman 1377 pistol that I baught new in about 1983, and an old Daisy... wait... 2 Daisy pistols. (so I can compare it to something)
I fired one round through one of the Daisys last night and 5 rounds through the Crosman. (got tired of pumping it up) 80 rounds through the RWS.
It is worth the price. I would buy it again. Recommended.
When I first got it, I thaught the grip was a pit awakward, but after getting used to it, I really like it now. It is a great gun for plinking. |

I'm going on my third from Pyramyd air a great site if you value customer service. I like the gun a lot and as for not hitting the side of a barn, well he obviously doesn' own one. Alot of pluses good 2 stage adjustable trigger.
Nice finer sights. Easy to cock she'll shoot Daisy To H&N match no problems. Pretty accurate did a clover leaf plus on key hole @ 25'.
Three complaints RWS QC needs work
1. Need to load the gun breach up and don't raise th barrel. Raise the gun nothing in the sparce manual about it so I loaded it like my Remington 1200 and thus dr fired many times before ifigured out what was happening so keep the muzzle down until completely closed. Pellets will fly out even on an inproper slow close causing a dry fire. Not good.
2. The muzle break that attaches the front fiber sight post has two set screws on the bottom that are constantly coming loose. Inas few as 10 rounds and are easily cross threaded and stipped if not careful.
3. Rear sight on some gun lack enough elevation adjustment and with the rear sight down all the way still shooting an inch high, i have had to use a slightly lower than 6 o'clock hold to compensate.
Called Pyramyd Air and they have been great! Their thirty days no questions asked return policy is awsom. Cuurrently talking to Stacey a service Tech about this second gun going back and if I should switch to another gun and she gave great advice now looking at an HW model to exchange this time. If I was set on another Diana she said she would check the sight range for their 10 for 10 program. I may ask that they loctite thoes set screws in place. The hw looks nice and is well built. But i'm worried about the lack of power 410 fps compared to my RWS 700 fps. I like to punch clean holes and not rip the target like my son's cheap Chineese copy rated at the same seed..... Hope this helps oh rumor has it th barrel is Bent at the factory for a reason or accident don' know. |

I couldn't agree w/this more. I purchased a scope from them and it had an issue w/the elevation adjustment. The second one had an issue w/eyepiece focus. They took them both back (second one was well out of original 30 days, but within 30 days of receiving first replacement). They even pay for return shipping which is almost unheard of. |
