For the 3rd time it's broken. My PC. Bought it used last year, and now it's not even starting up. Neutral

I guess now I'll have to break that rule of never buying new. Stupid peace of crap...

What kind of pc is it and if it is a laptop then try with it turned off remove the battery and insure it is not plugged in wait about 30 min and re-install the battery and connect to power and turn it on. Often this will get a laptop that wont do anything to start.

You probably know what you're doing, but let us know the exact symptoms and maybe we can help. From my experience if it will not turn on at all (and w/no beeps) then it is usually the power supply.

How far does it get in the boot process and does it die at the exact same place every time you try?

Throw a couple hundred bucks at Dell and let them worry about keeping it running. They have proved very user friendly from my end of things.

cheers
Jeff

Trust me, when the light on the Mobo is burnin' so it's not the power supply. There's definately something wrong here.

Specs:

- 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 3 Gb Memory (yup, that's 3, not 4, one strip of memory that broke half a year ago)
- 9800 GT (SVGA custom version, also with a lot of flaws)
- Mobo by ASUS. Neutral

I own a Macbook that I fixed myself a couple of times. Typical that when I buy a good up to date machine it breaks down. Was over $ 800 too... Neutral

Appreciate the input though. Wink

Ow, did I mention? I'm out of money. Neutral

I've had a power switch go bad before...you could take the wires going to your power switch and touch them together...if you're lucky it may be just that easy. Most of the time there is a jumper on the MB that you can complete w/the head of a pin to start the PC up as well.

I know, I've already hotwired it. I think it may be somewhere down the road which is looking into it to much. I'm away for the weekend because, well, I guess that deserves another topic. Mr. Green

I had one go like that Anton, it was the memory that had failed, replaced it and away it went.

Maybe the whole mobo needs to be replaced. I know my graph card is sort of broken already, because I've tried that at a buddies place and he had the same trouble with graphic stuff. Neutral

Hey Anton place it at the bottom of the garden and give it a good talking to, if it doesn’t respond blast the crap out of it. But make sure you other computers are watching when you do this.

You will now have a trouble free computer life.

Al Mr. Green

Nothing I'd like to put on the target stand more than I-piecesofcrap.

You're not cool because you have a $500 useless, too easy to break, hunk of silicon and plastic.
