So anyway, back to the kids in the class. Final tally was about 80, and they all passed the written exam. The field exercise is Saturday.
For the first time in anyone's memory more than half were girls.
One test paper was interesting. You know how some kids reverse their "b's" and "d's", putting the loop on the wrong side? One of the "ten commandments of gun safety" is "Never cross a fence or jump a ditch with a loaded gun." One kid turned in a paper with the "d" in "ditch" reversed. That gives it a whole new meaning. |

| Slavia, I don't think the child was wrong in any way... More likely an accident to happen with the B than D. |

I was in the same boat with my ex. She absolutely would go off if I took him hunting. Course that never stopped me from doing it. He would call me crying because she was passed out drunk and he didn't have anybody else to talk to. He's really grown up to be an outstanding adult. He is getting ready to go to a seminary to become a pastor. |

| It's in Kentucky is all I can tell you right now. There are 3 there and he wants to see where his scholarship will get the most "bang" for the buck. |

Another successful field day for the firearm safety class. A beautiful day, and there were more than enough hot dogs and ammunition. Some students were already experienced, and for some it was the first time pulling a trigger. All were successful.
Afterwards the instructors got together to shoot. The half-dozen or so students that hung around got to sample our respective "specialties." One adult first-time shooter told her husband that they needed to get one of those "pellet things."
Anyway, I would encourage you all to contact your natural resources/conservation department and inquire about becoming a volunteer firearm/hunter safety instructor. It's a lot of fun. |
