Lots of 12 gr. cartridges for a start.... Even if possible, the CO2 wasted willl be more than what is used to produce useful energy.... Rolling Eyes

Umm... trade all that for an HPA setup?

I could see you getting low/mid 600's. Maybe 650+ in .177. But co2 provides more energy in .22 (ask Bob...)

I've got a 2300 with a 10 inch barrel and I get 600 tops. I get starlings all day long. they are all head shots so that if I miss, I don't have a wounded bird fluttering around. 22s hit hard even at 600.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that you'll get that sort of fps from a 2240..the reason I say this becasue I have have a 2240, with 10" Crosman barrel, and a B&A "BOSS" valve. Has Crosman long, steel breech, and CR 2300 power adjuster. I took the valve apart and went so far as to open up/drill deeper, polish smoother, every conceivable thing that would increase /aid in air flow...and even with the lightest pellet I could find(11.9 RWS Hobby)590 was the highest I ever saw on the chrony..And I tried every hammer spring available from Crosman, even cut coils from some, tried it all..
You could probably see 700 fps, but you'd need to use a 24 inch barrel..and let's face it..THAT is NOT a pistol any more..If ya just HAVE to have a pistol, look into the 2010 line-up from Crosman..I understand they have some new models that would meet you requirements..Good luck.

That being said, 590 fps in .22 isn't that bad. The Airmagnum 850 does that too, and those are probably among the better co2 rifles on the market.

i am ordering a chrony, and getting my 2240 for fathersday. i will be doing extensive testing including upgrading every part one at a time , checking the increase in fps, then putting the stock part back on and upgrading the next part and so on. then i will check fps with multiple upgrades combined etc... right now im gaining info on all the upgrades available and making a list of what i need to buy such as all the different barrel lenghts, springs, valves, etc... i will buy modded valves as well as modding the stock valve, i will test with 12g as well as bulk fill etc...i will have hundreds of combinations tested with all the fps increases and will post all my results here! I know in a earlier post i said i had ordered my 2240, but i had changed my order and bought a beretta 92fs nickel w/wood grips and a walther cp88 blued w/wood grips instead lol my wife and i love shooting shotgun shells down with theese 2 pistols

p.s. i welcome any help in my project such as info on what springs and where to buy them etc... i am very excited about this project

i am also looking for a couple stock valves to do some modifications to for my testing

Sounds good. Don't forget to open a nice new topic for that project.

Still, you might want to take into consideration that every 22xx is a different gun and what applies to your doesn't necessarily apply to someone else's. Wink

Your original question was with a 10" barrel.... Use a longer barrel and the performance will go up....

ISSA states that maximum barrel length for competition can be no longer than 10.25 inches.
