I have been looking at cleaning kits for some time now and all of them are too expensive or I have concerns about them damaging the barrels. The from this forum I found about using weed whacker line to make a pull through and it works perfectly except you can not use it to get a pellet out of the barrel and all the rods I have found are too hard and could hurt the barrel of airguns or too expensive.

My answer is I went to Jo-Annn's a sewing store and in their crafts department I bought a 1/8 th X 36 inch dowel for $0.29 and it fits the .177 barrel real well. I took some heat shrink that I got from Harbor Freight just to protect the dowel from getting scratched and to make it a little stronger. Works like a charm.

What's the cause of the pellets jamming?? I wouldn't think it would happen so often that you need to fabricate a tool for removing them...??

It just needs to happen once. It doesn't happen often but when it does you need to remove them and they happen more when you run low on co2 in fact it has never happen any other time or any other type gun yet, for me so I don't want to spend money on a rod that I may never need but if I do I want something that will work and not damage the gun, hence the homemade rod.

OK, I got cha!! I read somewhere about a guy that had bought a wooden dowel at a "craft store" to use for that, in case he ever needed it. seems like wood would be a safe bet Smile

I use a rod made from a plastic-coated wire coathanger. Besides pushing pellets out (like when polishing the muzzle crown), it also works with cotton swabs for cleaning .177 caliber. Use the cheap swabs with the hollow plastic shaft.
