I am in the process of smoothing the innards of my old leather washer HW 35 and have noticed a few things.
I bought a Titan spring. Mistake. Way too long, strong, would need Arnie to fit it. The supplier asked if I had a blow torch and a grinder to shorten it but not to the standard springs length or it would be worse. What the !!!!!! is going on with these charlatans. I paid the best part of £20 and I expect it to fit.
I have "shaved" the washer till it runs down the cylinder under about 2lbs weight as per Cardew's advice.
I have been wondering about using motor cycle chain lube to dampen spring vibes.
I will fit a nylon top hat and spring guide.
I have drilled 21 4mm holes in the piston opposite the cocking slot to reduce weight/recoil.
I want the gun to operate in the combustion phase and will use good mineral greases and oils not silicone/ptfe/teflon products.
Any thoughts/advice based on facts would be very gratefully received. |
