Hey guys I'm new to messing around with Air Rifles seems like a good hobby though. I've had this gun for all quite sometime and I'm pretty sure its from the 80s. I've never done any maintenance on it, because its always shot well.

Anyway lately it seems like air is leaking out of the gun when I pump it up and it seems now like it only actually fires 50% of the time, which I imagine is dangerous. Recently I started loading pellets into the gun and it seems to have real difficulty shooting these. We're talking 15+ pumps and there is nothing behind it. Any recommendations on how I can fix this?

Does it retain air when you are pumping? Or do the problems only occur when pulling the trigger/shooting? If it doesn't pump up properly, you're looking at a cup seal, if it's only when shooting, your valve o-rings are likely going south. Have you put any lube on things to see how the issue reacts?

It seems like it loses air after I pump it up while I'm aiming. I havent done any maitenance at all. Is this something you think is easily fixable or should I invest in a new one?

If you get the parts from daisy, it shouldn't be too difficult to repair. Try oiling the seals with a non-petroleum based product (i.e. silicone oil) and see if anything changes.

Don't know if you were able to repair your 880.Check this thread http://airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=4008&highlight=880 I added some info there on 880 repair parts.We use 30w oil in all our guns without issue,but we do clean our guns frequently.Please don't use WD 40.It is a water displacer not a lubricant.
