I've decided to go to the next level in AG's and, after a lot of research about accuracy, dependability and price, I'm leaning very heavily toward the Mrod. I have heard a lot of the good things about the Mrod but, i haven't heard any of the bad things about it. What I don't know is what it's really like to own one of these.

Just how much maintenance is required with this AG?

How many pumps with the hand pump does it take to fill it?

Mrod owners, is there anything I should know before I purchase this rifle?

Thanks.

I don't have one but the research I have done says do a lot more research as for the number of pumps to get it filled that depends on if it is empty or just needing to be topped off. If empty it will take a lot lot lot of pumping from a hand pump. If it was me I would have it filled the first time from a tank. Some stores will do that for a charge.

My experience only goes as far as the pneumatics and the springers. Maintenance for these rifles is as simple as dabbing a few drops of oil every now and then to keep the seals working. I guess what I want to know is how PCP owners maintain their guns...barrel cleaning and such, to keep everything working properly.

Thanks

i bought mine from mac1airgun.com. he sells 'em like hot cakes.
my bolt handle fell off and had to be glued. this is the only one tim has seen happen to. with the early ones (mine was in the first few hundred made) the baffles holes were not made to the required 7mm diameter.
i'll be taking it back so tim can retro the baffles.

this could be why mine is pellet picky compared to others. (it only likes beeman ammo)

no problems other than that. i put the required silicon (i belive that's what he gave me) lube on the chamber o-ring as needed. i've done no other maintanence other than cleaning the barrel.

i'd go right to a scuba tank IMO.

i easily get 1500 rounds on $7 of air filling to 2200 psi (80ci 3000 psi tank)

filling from the tank takes all of 10 seconds....

Scuba tank, kool. I saw someone selling a used tank somewhere. Maybe I can get that. Hopefully there is somewhere nearby that can fill it. 1500 rds for $7 sounds good to me. Question: Do you own the pump? If so, is it hard to fill the rifle with it? Another question: Did you have to purchase an adapter for the scuba tank? Thanks

never had a pump never will.

yes you will need the yoke adapter.

they're $50-$75. i would think any scuba shop
would sell them. (i bought everything from mac-1)

the bigger the tank the better. if you wanna fill to 3000psi
you'll need a 4500 psi tank. bob can fill in whatever i leave out. Cool

Bob...?
Sniper, when you say that you can get 1500 rounds off for $7, I think you can get multiple fills from the tank. Is that right? Cause if it is, scuba tank here I come!!!

Bob...?

Already threw in my 2 cents worth.... I use a pump for my Disco and I've used it for 13 cu.in. tanks from empty to 3000 psi but I have to admit that is a bit of a chore.... I now have a SCUBA tank, but the nearest filling is 2 hours away.... so it mostly gets used to bring tanks/guns to whatever pressure I can and then I top up with the pump....

It sure is a lot easier when your gun is setup for only 2000 psi like a Disco.... A Marauder at 2500 psi would be OK from a 3000 psi SCUBA but not near as many fills.... If you use a SCUBA tank for the first fill and then pump after that.... it's not all tha much work, IMO.... like I said, maybe 2 pumps per shot....

Bob

yes. i take the tank to the scuba shop on my way home from work. they fill it for $6.59. filling to 2200 psi down to 1600 is around 1500 shots on that fill. i bought it last june and have had it filled only twice. Shocked
i'd say i have less than 3000 rounds through my mrod.

Thanks, Sniper. I really appreciate the info. Do you hunt with yours? What scope do you have and, do you have adjustable mounts to compensate for barrel droop? What magnification do you recommend? Thanks

i only shoot rodents. i have a bsa 4-16x40. there is no barrel droop on fixed barreled rifles. i like this scope cuz it'll focus down to 10 yards.
you'll need medium-high rings.

so the mag fits in the breech without hitting the scope.
