That'd be me. You can use the "quote" button to quote someone, or say something like:
@Broommaster2000:
My, what lovely teeth you have.

Just like anything, buying used comes with a degree of risk. Unless I trust the person selling, or have seen and used it first hand, I just buy new. And, doesn't the joy of opening a brand spankin' new toy count for something? |
To me, money counts more. I usually molest my guns anyway, so buying new would be throwing over a 100 bucks down the crapper. I'm Dutch, what can I say? If it can be cheaper, I'll go for it.

Update on Beeman situation:
I am in Vegas at the moment attending the SHOT show and have spoken with Beeman and some others. A Chinese entity has bought them. They are still in business selling product under the Beeman and Marksman brands.
It does not appear they will be carrying the German-made products any longer. BUT- PyramydAir has negotiated a distribution agreement with Weihrauch for the products in the US (Weihrauch made ALL the Beeman 'R' series products). H&N pellets are the 'native' version of the Beeman pellets sold in the past- which are also available but without the names Beeman had marketed them under over the years.
So, products still available, pellets still available- customers should not be affected too much, although I don't know how this will affect warranty and parts availability, yet. |

All under "Weihrauch"- the proper company name. It's just a matter of translating what model translation Beeman used- i.e. What model of Weighrauch is an "R1" as an example. I'm sure there are crossover lists out there, I just don't have any handy at the moment. |

[quote="AirGunEric"]The posts quoted were from December of 2009- i.e. recent. The original sale of the Robert Beeman Company to SR Industries was way back in 1992 or 1993 (don't recall exact year offhand).
Yeah Eric,they sold out in 1993.I bought my first Beeman air gun from the Santa Rosa Ca. location in 1992,and heard from the staff that they would be selling the following year.It was a killer store..."Huge"complete with an indoor range where you could test out whatever you wanted before you buy.....I miss it. |

Just an update: was talking with a couple of airgun industry old-timers recently, and all the ideas of Beeman's future seem to be confirmed. Apparently they have laid off/fired virtually everyone in California (which might explain why my emails haven't been responded to for a month) except a couple people to unlock the door in the morning. The plan is for the Chinese to use it as their distribution vehicle for BAM products.
Problem is- they apparently need some lessons in how to conduct business outside China- dumping a company on its a$$ and firing everyone isn't a very good recipe to get people to buy your (currently unavailable) products I would think especially so as they have proven in the past they have no interest in providing parts or support past a product's warranty period.
Guess we'll see... |

| That is bad news. I bought a Beeman model 1073 from Wal-Mart about a month ago. I was thinking "sure it comes from the evil wal-mart, but Beeman is a good company and it's a good price". Then when I got it out of the box I was disappointing to see "MADE IN CHINA" on the side of it. It's been nothing but trouble since I got it too. I decided that I'm done with it and I'm looking at a different rifle now. |
