Howdy, I'm new to the forum, but like most of you have been shooting an air rifle since i was a kid!
Here is the problem, for some reason the last few years here in the facist state of california .22LR ammo has been virtually impossible to find, and it seems to get worse every time im running low!
I literally had to go to nearly a dozen retailers to find it in bulk, and when you do find it, they jack up the price! I used to get 500 rds for under $10, 500 rds cost me $22 at bass pro today, the "doucher" working the counter told me they order 15 cases at a time and generally sell out that bussiness day!
So I've decided to get a .22 cal air rifle to replace my .22LR for my varmit/pest control needs, cottontail and jack rabbit hunting, and perhaps i may even try to get a turkey if things work out!
I had the red ryder's and 760 pumpmaster's when i was a youngster, then a few years back i purchased a rws model 94, when i lived in town my room mate and I were deadly with that silent beauty, pulled it out a few weeks back just to get the feel of a springer back and she still groups 1.5"/ shooting standing @ 20 yards.
I am in the position to hunt lots of unwanted critters in my grandfathers(and his neighbors) orchards, so i literally have hundereds of acres to hunt birds, rabbits and squirels
I ordered a .22 Walther Talon magnum w/ nitro conversion, some crossman premier hollowpoints, preditor pollymags and some h&n baracuda match 21gr monsters!
No real point to this thread, other than to intoduce myself, hopefully the talon gets here soon, there are way to many crows and magpie's in my grandfathers orchards, and the .177 doesnt allways get the job done! |

The cost/lack of availability of regular ammo drives alot of people to/back to airguns.
In any event, Welcome to AirGunHome.com! |

Welcome aboard the airgun addiction train.
Hopefully your order will arrive soon, so we can see how it performs. Don't think anyone has ever had one of those rifles on the forum before. |

Ya i tried to search for a Walther Talon on here, didnt find much. Big 5 had the .177 Talon so i was able to hold it and take a look at the construction and the scope, feels like a quality rifle.
I have a hard time just blindly ordering a gun off the internet without seeing in person, would hate to get it and find the ergonomics dont suit me!
I went with the Walther over another RWS because i wanted to try a gun with the Nitro Gas Spring Conversion, all the reviews @ Pyramyd seem to be positive. My only concern is with a gun this powerful im sure its going to ruin anything but the best quality scopes! |

| $22 for a box of 500 LR is pretty good. I haven't shot in 6 years. Talk about shell shock when I went to purchase some ammo. Everything is a minimum of 30% above what I used to be and most seems to be twice the price. This is all granted you can get it in the first place. I just bought a case of 9mm and it was approx 3 times what I paid last time I purchased a case quantity. |

Is there a reason that you're not mail-ordering your ammo? Surely even the People's Republic of California hasn't suppressed freedom to that extent.
Seriously, you may want to try these guys:
http://www.22ammo.com/
Cheaper than Dirt and Midway also usually have pretty decent prices. |

Jersey is next on the list for even more gun bans. At least a Rep. governor is in NJ now.
Hell, when SHTF, NJ and commie-fornia will disappear into the ocean.
On the bright side, NJ just legalized Medical MJ, and Cali is about to make it completely legal no? |

Had to stop shooting .22 because of subdivision growth. Stopped shooting the A/F Condor because it was loud and people would call the cops, yes its legal but smart @$$ cops hassled me. My new Marauder is so quiet no one knows your shooting 'anything'! It is super accurate and Crow Magnums whack even tough to kill raccoons. Happy in Florida. |
