After years of owning a Feinwerkbau 300s, I finally bought the HW97 that I've wanted since it came out in 97 (in fact, I wanted a 77 some years before that). As I mentioned in another post, my first order was canceled with a note indicating that Beeman had been sold out and that stocks of rifles were not being provided now. I finally found one at Straight Shooters and am extremely pleased so far.
The rifle is beautiful; a little heavier that I thought it would be but manageable. After all, my Feinwerkbau isn't exactly a lightweight. I mounted my scope using a one-piece mount, then function fired it yesterday evening. It did seem to diesel a little on the first shot, but subsequent shots were uneventful. Seems a lot more powerful than my FWB. I know it's a bit more powerful, but shouldn't be that much more. Maybe a lot of that perception is the fact that the FWB is recoil-less and the HW97 isn't.
Anyway, I'm very happy with the rifle and look forward to grouping it with various pellets then getting out for some squirrel, rabbit and field target shooting. |
