For IL anything that fires larger than .18" projectile over 700 fps. So some .20 and .22 cal pellet guns would be classified as a firearm......Well well how does this read to you guys? Sounding a little better I think what do you guys think??

Get a B-26 and use ammunition that is "standard weight" (ie 14.3 gr.) or heavier and you should be OK.... If they are fussy and insist that it can't even fire lightweight projectiles over 500 fps then you will have to go even less power.... If they go by the advertised velocity, then that's another ballgame entirely.... Rolling Eyes

My guess is that to make it easy on the seller, they go by the advertised velocity.... Basically, you need to find out what the rules are, not just what the law says.... Wink

Well the way I read the "law" I see it as if I had a .177 I'm alright at any velocity. They stated just the projectiles that at .18 and greater with 700 FPS are considered Firearms.

From Pyramyd Air's website:

http://www.pyramydair.com/airguns-shipping-restrictions.html

The following are prohibited:

Illinois
Airguns over 700 fps or calibers over .18

Aurora
Foregrips

Chicago
Airguns

Blank guns
Blank gun ammo

Cook County
Foregrips

Evergreen Park
Slingshots
Slingshot ammo & slingshot accessories

I don't know if they are right or not.... but that is their policy.... Rolling Eyes

Alright, that is a little more cut and dry. I'm going to goto Gander Mountain tomorrow. I was told they sell them there. I will talk with one of there sales people and find out what the deal is. I think that would be much easier than trying to talk to someone at the police dept. They people at Gander will know I would assume because they have to know what the laws are out here to sell them so now I have to wait another day. I just want answers I thought I was in the clear with my first post about the RWS. Then I came across this law. Oh my well we shall see. Thank you for all you help and putting up with my dang questions.

you're gonna hafta balance speed, power and accuracy...

get tins of pellets and start testing...

just about the only thing I'd suggest is to avoid wadcutters and the very lite plastic pellets and make sure your scope is airgun approved and SECURE as pointed out, the 350 RWS is a massive springer and it WILL kill scopes.

welcome to the world of airgunning...a never ending quest you've just embarked on... Wink Wink Wink

Thanks for the reply but this thread has spun into a ton of problems for myself laws and everything else. So therefore RWS is now out of the question.

oooh...where you live is one of the places that's paranoid, too?

I'm certain sooner or later, the California state legislature will turn on airgunners.

sorry to hear that...we here in California have undergone many battles with the anti-gun legislature so we know what it's like.
