I found out one thing when I got my 2300 pistol. The scope is NOT made by crosman. It's a chinese POS. target acquisition sucks, and if you don't hold it the exact same way parallax will kill any accuracy that you get out of it. THe rest of the gun is typical crosman high quality. I'm ordering an iron sight kit as soon as the holidays are over. Just wanted somebody else to know before they order.

Do you have a picture of the scope Crosman put on the 2300?

This was a brand-new unit from Crosman?

It's made by a company called NcStar. I just got it a few days ago. The scope does look slick on a tactical/ appearance level.

It was a crosman custom order. It's the only time you can get a scope mounted on your pistol. I've owned it less than 2 weeks. It's a brand new one right off the crosman custom sight.

what i'm about to say will be controversial to many, heresy to some and probably just plain ole upset others...and...please don't construe it as my "flaming" or "attacking" pistols...this is an application in MY case ONLY...i know others are very good with and like handguns very much

IMO good optics, other than red-dot, or laser systems, are more or less, wasted on handguns.

what few handguns i have are good ole iron sights or HUD for rapid target accquisition in a defensory role.

i have hunted with handguns but, i've never been a "good" shot with one...

i have always viewed a handgun as a defensive arm; that stems from my military training.

Sorry- I was curious what scope it was that Crosman put on the gun! Seems a bit silly to put a lower-end unit on a "custom gun" for which they capture a premium.

Your new scope looks good.

As for scopes on handguns, as Donwalk menioned, I typically only use red dots- but maybe I'm a bit shakey holding them freehand so anything else would be wasted on me anyways.

Just how well does the red dot show up on a bright and sunny summer day at a 15 meter target practice? I ask cause I have NO experience with them whatsoever and I have a Crosman 2240 coming from Airgunsofarizona, according to UPS will be here Tuesday. So, any info now would be of much value !! TIA< Rodger

The sights I'm getting in january are the good iron sights from crosman directly.

Good red dot optical sights are fun and practical. By 'good' I mean not only nice clear optics, but a small, preferably adjustable dot. I have one (can't think of the make without going and looking) that has a tiny little dot that adjusts from bright enough to see on a sunny day down to NVG compatable. I also have a BSA that was a waste of money. The dot is bigger than the bullet hole, so real accuracy is near to impossable.

If you want a real scope for a handgun, consider a TC. They made bunches of them for the Thompson Contender and Encore pistols. They are fairly good quality and you can find them used for under fifty bucks if you look around and are patient. Lots of people get rid of them when they upgrade to $500+ scopes for their Contenders.

I agree that a red dot or a hollo sight like the Eotech is probably better suited to handgunning, scopes have their place. Mostly that place is on Contenders....

I would beware of any scope made for powder burner use as most springer type airguns will destroy them, because of the double kick when firing. You need to use a scope made especally for springer airguns such as a 2240 or 2350, but I agree for pistol use red dot sights are very good, as for dot size try to get something with a 4 moa (Minute Of Arc) or less, I use a Hawke with a 4 moa and the dot is 1" at 20 yards, if you go to small you may not be able to see the dot under some conditions.

But if you want to shoot hole on hole at rangers over 10 yards the you will need a scope.

The BSA on my Marksman 2004 works well, but not under all conditions. Outdoors, I can adjust the intensity so the target is visible through the dot. Indoors, the dot is too big and too bright and blots out the target (even on the lowest setting).

The only marking says "ADCO" No model number. I have no idea what sort of price point this thing is in. I got it on a used gun so I don't really know much about it. It was on a 45acp AR15, which I parted out because it was nothing but issues. Now it's on a single shot 22 pistol. It has 11 intensity settings, and a small dot. It's also fairly compact, which I like. Nice little unit.

Have a look here, Hawke USA they make good quality sights and guarantee them for years. I have the smaller one on this page and it is excellent.

Thank you kind sir, I just ordered the same as you have, for my 2240. I think it's just what I need Mr. Green Mr. Green Not familiar with Hawke, but since you have experience with one, I'll follow your lead .

I did find one "ADCO" scope...on Cobra Air Guns site..but price was more than I wanted to spend, so went with the Hawke.
