Do you own an "original" SuperTen, the Mk2 or Mk3? Not that it really matters- from what I've seen of them, they are all constructed in much the same manner.

Anyways- I understand that the first 'mod' anyone should do is replace the bottle sealing o-ring with a urethane unit- apparently the factory o-ring has a tendency to blow out when installing or removing the bottle.

Next- power output/lack thereof the all controlled by the regulator on these guns:

The regulator does wonderful things for shot consistency (and in turn, accuracy)- but not so much for power in some cases- it depends on the particular regulator in question. For example, a "detuned" version has a different regulator in it than the full 22/30fpe models. So, what can you do?

You could have a regulator made (big job) by someone who knows that they're doing- like this guy: http://home.comcast.net/~joekorick/personal.htm

here's a sample of his custom units:

Or, you could try shimming the spring inside- although it's tough to predict what this will do without appropriate testing equipment- so it becomes a "trial and error" sort of process.

You could also try eliminating the regulator entirely- i.e. have the air feed straight from the tank to the valve and use an external regulator for pressure control- but then the consistency advantage will disappear and you will be left with a more "traditional" PCP setup with a constantly dropping power curve- big power to start, and then a continous dropoff.

Lastly- I understand alot of people find the SuperTen's heavy- especially for a PCP gun- so maybe find ways of reducing the weight- i.e. lighter stock, if doing anything with the regulator- have the brass unit replaced with an aluminum unit, etc.

I would be more specific, but I don't have a Super10 or access to one to look over in great detail. Hopefully someone around here is familiar with it.

Also- I understand there are/were a couple guys (located in the UK) that do alot of tuning work on the SuperTen line. First one is a guy named Adrian, telephone number is/was 138 6832 146. The other guy was John Bowkett at 0121 745 4287. I'm not in the UK so I have no idea why the phone number structure is different between those two (?). If someone wants to educate me on this- feel free. Very Happy

I don't have a SuperTen to go and look at/play with- so I can only offer some generic ideas.

Perhaps put a slightly longer barrel on the gun- this may help accuracy a bit and may get you closer to the 12fpe limit in the UK (am I understanding you correctly in that your gun isn't quite at 12ft-lbs yet?)

Another item which might contribute to accuracy would be the trigger pull- the harder it is to pull- the more likely it is for the shooter to move the gun around and go off target. I don't know if the SuperTen has a particularly hard trigger- but if it does, look at lightening it.

The last thing I might mention for consistency is the air pressure. The regulator aids greatly in "metering" out the air- but there will be a point where the air pressure drops and the guns range is noticeable shortened- recharge/fill the tank before you reach that point. Obviously, a SCUBA tank fill system would make this a lot more palatable if you are shooting from a stationary location.

Unfortunately, I personally can't help you with where to get a Walther barrel that fits the SuperTen. But- if you can't find such a barrel- measure the outer diameter of what you have and see if an alternative is available- for example a "barrel liner" which is an insert used to re-line/re-store regular firearms (in muzzle loaders typically).

I have the mk3 bull barrel rifle and it is a HEAVY piece of kit
i wouldn't bother with the hammer or spring, just Shim the cigar to 20f/lbs a nice power for these great rifles.

I wouldn't risk going over 50f/lbs for any shrouded barrel - the gubins in the barrel dont like it Exclamation

It's English colloquialism meaning the insides, guts, parts etc.

We'll have to get you an English / Canadian dictionary. Smile

Doesn't tuning a BSA means that you won't be able to sell it for a consistent price?
