It is sometimes hard (at least for me) to get good contrast and sighting with the Benjamin 392 using the factory sights. Particularly, the black front blade sight. Any thing I could do to improve sighting? I don't think I could change the front sight(?). I would prefer not to paint the front sight (have seen where some paint it with white lacquer). Ideas? Thanks.

| Install a peep sight. It's the next best thing to a scope. |

i put a peep sight on mine then sanded off (with fine sandpaper)
about 1/4 inch of the finish on the top of the front sight.
it's good enough contrast for me. |

Thanks for the comments.
I assume that if one installs a peep sight then you have to remove the rear sight. Is the rear sight difficult to remove and once removed, is there an unsightly area that is left on the barrel where it was removed? What's involved and what remains where the rear sight was located?
I've read elsewhere that the peep sight (Crosman 64) in some cases had to be ground or filed down because it would not adjust low enough. Is this correct or can the Crosman 64 be installed without any modification? Is Crosman 64 the best choice for a peep sight?

| Peep sights are a huge improvement on the stock sights. You go from having to keep three objects in focus to two. I put a red dot on my Blue Streak and have been very happy with it. Only one sight plane for my old eyes to deal with, and with no eye relief restrictions it can be mounted ahead of the loading port, out of the way. Of course the peep sight is out of the way, also. But my red dot was on sale, making it cheaper than the peep. On the negative side, the red dot is a lot bulkier than a peep. |

You could consider filing out a round bit on the top of your front site.
Use a dab of epoxy and set in a section of "fiber optic" wire. You can get the stuff from Cabela's, or just google it. |
