Hey guys,
I was gonna be writing something about famous Dutch people, so I was wondering, how many Dutch people do YOU know? Infamous wouldn't be a problem either. |

| how many Dutch people do YOU know |
Let's see, my first crush was on a Heebink (unrequited). The first girl to kiss me (second grade) was a Geurkink. First girl I kissed was a Heunink. One of my favorite teachers a Willink. Went to school with Vrieze's, Vansomerans, Mentinks, Wissinks, Wieberdinks, Hoytinks, and Zevenbergens. My nickname in college was "Wrenchmiester."
As far as famous people: Fokker, who designed airplanes and Bernoulli, who keeps them up. van der Waals, who keeps molecules stuck together. Huygens, who invented voyeurism with a telescope. Erasmus, one of those religious guys. Spinoza, one of those philosophers that psuedo intellectuals mention but haven't read. Rembrandt and van Gogh, who invented paintings of naked people. Escher, who is just plain twisted. Eddie and Alex Van Halen. Van Leeuwenhoek, who invented "wee beasties." Van Dyck, who invented lesbianism. Last but not least, Sylvia Kristel and Laura Gemser, who both played Emmanuelle. |

| When someone from the USA visited me years ago he asked me all about "Hans Brinker", the brave Dutch boy who supposedly put his finger in the dyke (no, not a dike) to prevent a flood. |

| Back in the mid 90s there was this extremely tall dude named Rick Smits who played center in the NBA. He made a clutch shot one year and they called him "Dutch in the clutch". So add him to the list. |

| I love this history stuff. Our family name translates to either "from the mountain" or "from the village". |
