Hello Guys & Gals?,

I'm a new/newest member here as best I can remember but after reading
the various posts above I've forgoten what I got on here for, Gall Darn it!!

Geesh, and now I have to wait till later today to have the thought return, maybe. And it was something important too, I think???

Hello to all, seems like a good group of folks.

I will take delivery later today of my Umarex Bretta so it was interesting to read Alstone's info about the top slid spring. I'm not sure just how often I'll be using it in double action but if remember it probably also helps in semi-auto mode too?

Also Alstone I sympathize with your situation there in Lincoonshire, England, that's pretty rough not having too much room to shoot.

If I might offer a suggestion, a friend who lives in a city area a little ways south of me was saddled with a similiar situation and he wanted to shoot actual firearms there in the city with no room to do it. So what he did was to dig a wide deep trench, he has a basement too, and built-up the walls and put heav steal beams on the roof to support corrigated metal roof which he covered with soil and grass again. So now he has an under ground shooting range! Albiet a bit cramped and limited on variety of subject matter to shoot at he still can shoot when he wants.

I see also Daddy Joe and myself are't too far apart, maybe about 70 miles, here in the foothills of the Central Valley. I don't know about Joe but I'm very fortunate to have enough property that I actually shoot my high powered rifles right here on my property and don't have to go anywhere else. and can easilyset-up a 200 yard range as it very countrified here and I have a high hill for a backstop. I also reload for all my guns and have for many years.

Back to the Bretta pistol, I sure like the looks of it and while I'm sure it's fairly quiet I still like to see if I can't actually make the Silencer/Compensator on it functional to quiet the slitght blast down even more, just for the heck of it. I have no need as the neighbors would never hear it anyway but I figured it would be something to play around with.

I got the Bretta for pests around the area and to have some fun with target shooting and plinking at cans and milk cartons filled with water.

I also have quite a variety of pellets to try our and keep track of their performance.

If there are any other tricks to improve the performance of these type of guns I'd like to hear what has been done to improve them. I'll make use of the spring trick right away.

The one thing I'm most concerned about is the sealing of the Co2 cartridge as time goes by as I had a Crossman repeator air rifle and the seal went bad for some reason and I loose all the pressure from either the small cylinders or the adaptor for the larger cylinders and Crossman wouldn't stand behind their product even when it was just out of warranty.

I did see some new sealings rings at Wal Mart quite a while back but didn't get any and now they don't have them anymore.

As far as your eyes, look into a health food supplement called NATTOKINASE, it an enzyme that goes through your blood stream and literly consumes all the bad junk and leaves no waste product. This product will also help with improved vision due to bettrer blood flow! The only thing you need to be cautious about is that it a bt of a blood thinner so if your taking any other blood thinners be sure to check with your doctor. Also Hupperzine A for the memory is very good

Enough for now,
Take care and good shooting!

Welcome to AirGunHome XTactOp

Thank for the information on getting a bigger range, but if I went under ground I would finish up under my neighbours house. Laughing

As for the bretta I wouldn’t worry to much about breach seals getting damaged, the front one will last forever and the rear one is a spring loaded brass tube.

If you find that the poi moves after changing the mag it is probably the top slide a bit lose.

BTW
People over here who have bought the tactical model with the dummy silencer with the holes in the sides, have slid a piece of plastic pipe over it and it to make it a lot quieter.

Have fun

Al

Thanks Alstone, that's appreciated.

My thought about an underground range for you wasn't exactly an answer I guess, that's unfortunate. The only other thought is possibly an enclosure along a fence line possibly?

As far as the Co2 seal on the Beretta, that's the one I was concerned about but it seems quite well made and thought out. Even the thumb wheel to push to push the cartridge up to the feed tube only has enough edge surface to it so that the wheel cannot be over tightened too much.

As far as the top slide I did squeze the sides in a bit with my thumbs which seemed to help a bit but I didn't do any actual tests to check the variation.

Thanks for the tip on the fake silencer, I also looked at it and figured I warp some tape over the holes to test it out and sure enough it does quiet
the air blast noise considerably although when I sighted my red dot scope in the Co2 cylinder had already fired off at least 24 shots so the blast may not have been as strong and hence quieter? I'll know more as I shoot it more.

I want to find something very thin to put over the silencer as I don't want to add too much more bulk to it but I do want something dull too. I used Scotch Magic tape and a black marker but it's too shinny I may try Masking tape and again use the black marker at least temporarly

Thanks, it is quite a lot of fun.
