It's a sign of the times I'm afraid, we have the same laws over here, but ours also means that airguns have to be sold face to face.

i thought you'd say that broom.
yes al, sign of the times. our state tax is supposed to also go way up next year as is "workers comp insurance" both will effect me directly as will other small california business owners.
there is no incentive to live here anymore. and the weather isn't that great either (to me anyway)
at this point i'll take comfort in that my marauder was cash and carry and i don't even have a sales receipt.
of course that is in the works too i'm sure.
IDAHO: a great place to live and work.
i bought 1000 rounds of .22 long rifle last weekend for and unheard of $75. and i had to drive close to LA to find it. never has a brick been more than $10-$12. THANKS OBAMA. |

I shouldn’t complain to much sniper 1000 rounds of .22L for £75 bucks is cheap, over here the same would be £300.00 about $500.00. But there again we don’t have the same size market as you.

i understand this is an airgun forum (you should read what's said on my CA forum). this post relates to gun control which is a global agenda. every country feels it in some form. with airguns they are simply the next to follow IMO.
for you foreigners (not american with due respect) who are unaware of our ammo price hikes and restrictions, here is a rundown of prices from 1999-2009. what i shoot:
1999:
.22lr $10/500
.380 $6/50
9x19 $8/50
.45acp $10/50
7.62x39 $80-$110/1000
.223 $100-$150/1000
2009:
.22lr $20-$40/500
.380 $16/50
9x19 $20/50
.45acp $20-$40/50
7.62x39 $250- $400/1000
.223 $500-$700/1000
.308 and .44 magnum is even more.
and to think a year and a half ago mac-1 had 500/ tins of fts for $6.
fortunatly or unfortunatly we are the last country to follow.
gun control is a global agenda. |

By the way, leadprices tend to go up in times of war. And the US is one of (if not THE) the biggest spenders of lead and together with a bunch of other countries (including my own) have been doing a fair share of war the last couple of years. There's a crisis going on too.
Might add those knob kreek dudes who are spending tons of ammo in just a couple of days as a lil' example.
Yeah, airguns for the win. |

20 years after WW 2 you could get Lee Enfields with 14.000 beans for over 250 guilders. Enough to start your own little war (or clear of a zombie invasion). Rifles were "regulated" back then too, but mentality wasn't as crazy back then. I tell ya, it all went wrong in the 60's! |

Sniper, I'm honestly thinking about NOT getting an airgun for the festivities this year. In all reality I'm not going to be shooting blue helmets with a D34. Really looking for a .308. When they come for my toys, they'll get the business end first.
I guess the cost of a .22lr with bricks, and brick, and brick (did I mention CASES) of ammo is still low enough that I can stockpile 10,000rds of good stuff before SHTF. 10/22? |

i love my 10/22. 1.5 lb trigger/banana mags, bsa red dot.
seriously though. i only found out about this 4 days ago..thanks "thatguy".
if i new then what i know now i would not have my marauder at $1000+.(including ammo so far).
wish in one hand..........
i take comfort in that i am priced out of CA and will HAVE to move if i ever want to think about retirement...
your cost of living should not be 75+% your net income. |

I probably would have spent the $1000 on pellets and CF ammo.
I got 17,000 pellets so far, need at least 100,000 to consider myself "ready". And another 20,000 on hand to be shot. |

Consider yourself ready for what Fritz?, to corner the market, start a local war or what. you've got me intrested now.
I know that the british army as used 2000 tones of ammo in the last 6 months of the afghanistan war, but if the war finished or we all pulled out the lead prices would fall.
