First post from a long time airgunner.

Having found a site full of airgunners, I'll ask a question that has always given me a hard time. How to carry pellets while hunting (plinking) with a single shot. I've mostly been a spring piston guy (just ordered a Marauder so this won't be a problem for long) and the consistent problem has been how to have pellets right there when I want a quick reload. I used to and sometimes still do put a few between my fingers of my left hand. OK, they're right there but I cant really use the hand for much without dropping pellets. If I have a shirt with a pocket I put some in there, but sometimes I lose some if I have to bend down. A tin in the pocket is good to have, but hardly a quick load.

OK, so how do you guys carry pellets so you can walk through the brush, shoot and reload?

you could glue some kind of styrofoam with drilled holes on the gun where you can stick the pellets into it

I use home made pellet dispensers. This one hangs from your belt.

This is a four barrel dispenser and holds 80 pellets and clips on your belt.

This one is fastened to the side of the gun next to the breach.

This one fasten's to the butt.

I think you right there Eric, it look very similar to my design, the trouble is they have blurred out the tip so it is hard to see if it is the same.

I’ve a good mind to write to them and complain about infringement of copyright. Smile

sick dude! how can i go about getting one of those that hangs from the belt? or a way to make one?

anyway, i was gonna say, i was in a tobacco shop a while back looking for cigars. one of the shops that includes stuff they say is for tobacco but we all know otherwise. right next to some utensils labeled for tobacco use there are padded pouches for carrying them. they work great for keeping pellets silent and protected in the field

Hi Domer you can make one of these quite easily, all you need is a length of brass tube from a model shop the type that sells boats, aircraft etc, it’s made in the USA by K&S Engineering Chicago.

Cut and shape the tube as per photo you will have to make an end cap of some sort and a ring to hang on your belt, the only thing to take care of is the setting at the end that holds the pellet, getting the tension correct so as not to mark the skirt when extracting the pellet.

Thanks for all your replies! I knew there had to be some solution and I think Al's tube feeder is high on my to do list. The foam pellet holders loook great too.

The brass tube model looks a lot like a straight line capper for a percussion sidelock muzzle loader.

The pen model intrigued me, so I raided the dead pen drawer. I had trouble with the little fingers at the end, so I wound up simply cutting a slot with the Dremel and a 1/2" drum sander. There is a constriction, or "choke" at the writing end of the pen barrel that keeps even .177 pellets from sliding out. The cap keeps them from spilling out of the slot.

Pens with hard, brittle plastic have thicker walls, and will only accomodate .177 pellets. Pens with more flexible plastic have thinner walls, and will take .22 pellets.

The pellet counts for each are for wadcutter (flat) pellets.

both have been redesigned since the pics.
1/2 to 3/4 inch hard foam. held on w/ double sided tape.
the pistol now holds about 28, the rifle about 75.
always on hand, just grab and go

i like the foam cause you can kinda cut and sand it to match the contour of the gun.
w/ the right tape, a drill makes a clean hole for the pellet.
you need to be gentle loading them skirt first, but you just grab em' by the head when needed.

The 7/32" OD K&S tubing is perfect for .177 pellets, but I wanted a holder for .22 cal.... I tried 1/4" OD K&S but the ID is 0.220" and although the head of the pellet fits, the skirt won't, so they stick inside and when you push them out the other end the skirt is swedged somewhat.... and yes, I made sure there were no burrs on the ends.... Rolling Eyes

So then began the search for something I could make a dispenser from.... I ended up using a plastic tip from a tube of caulking.... the type where you cut the end to give you the size bead you want.... I cut it off until it was just slightly smaller than the head of a pellet and then V'eed the sides.... It worked great.... I made the tubular part of the holder from a piece of 1/2" aluminum turned down to fit inside the tapered tip, and drilled the inside to 15/64".... I cross drilled the other end for a small carbiner which I can snap onto my belt loop.... You remove the carbiner to load the holder and it will hold 12 JSB Exact Heavy 18.0 gr round nose pellets.... Cool

thanks, alstone. you have just created another project for me to tinker with when i should be doing other things lol. seems everything about airguns is that way with me though. i should prolly go do the dishes or something...
