While I might not be able to go hunting at the presant time, I do watch many hunting shows as part of the learning process. Of course nothing beats first hand experience. It is what it is.

During these show many hunting related companies are now coming out with this years latest and greatest products. And of of these is the T/C Encore "hunting system".

For those of you not familar with the T/C encore, they've for years made rifles with inter changable barrels. The newest Encore uses a base "action" to which different stocks and barrels can be easily removed and swapped out.

If you had only one gun or as they term it "hunting system" you would own a muzzel loader, a shot gun, a center fire bolt action rifle, a rimfire bolt action rife and just reciently they've added the ablity to configure the system into a pistol. That's five different weapons all built into one package!

Now imagine if we could do that with ag's! I just wish it were possible. The most obvious issues would be type of power being used. A pcp/hpa gas tube, or springer/pump on a pistol just wouldn't look right.

At the very least, I wish someone would make an under over shotgun/rifle ag. Even if the shotgun portion was 410, that'd be a help with some birds!

I have a T/C pistol and 4 barrels for it and I have a rifle stock for it and it is an awesome gun 30-30, 44 mag, 222 hornet, 45 colt/ 410 shotgun shell - same barrel. It would be cool to have a ag shotgun combo Twisted Evil

And even though Crosman would come close to interchangeable barrels, it's still not really interchangeable. What you need is something to quickly change the barrel. Like how they do it with a machinegun.

I have a project going with a QB78 with interchangeable bolt. Wink

The problem is that when you change barrels you lose your zero. Since airguns are not rapid fire spray-n-pray machines, that won't work.

Might be handy if you are doing some tests at really close range where accuracy doesn't count.

Sako has a bolt action rimfire that you can swap out for 22lr, .17hmr, .17 mach 2, and 22wmr IIRC. They claim you can take the barrel out and put it back in without losing zero, but it seems unlikely. You would also have to re sight in the rifle every time you swap barrels.

what broommaster2000 says is true...

over the years i've owned a number of NEF/H&R rifles with interchangable barrels and have found that, normally, ONE barrel/caliber will perform much better on the same frame than the others.

as an example i had the handi-rifle in .223 with a 22 hornet barrel and a 44 mag barrel. the .44 was AWFUL in accuracy, even at less than 100 yards, the .22 hornet was marginal...but...the .223 was an absolute "tack driver" out to 300 yards.

i still have a couple of them but i have only one caliber i use on each frame now after ascertaining which performs best on that particular frame.

takes a lot of time, $$$$ and effort to "get it right" sometimes.
