regarding the marauder:
JSB'S are tack driving. they are also expensive.
my monthly budget will need to be $100 dollars.
being that the marauder has a choked barrel does anyone have any experience with cheaper pellets with thin skirts-like JSB'S that will be reasonably accurate???
i understand that JSB'S are softer therefore conform better in a choked barrel.
this gun hates premiers.
thanks |

I don't have any answers, only questions...
You say the Marauder has a choked barrel, what does this mean?
Are you talking about a slighly reduced bore diamter toward the muzzle (Ala' the older Colt Pythons?) or uhm, what? |

I would avoid most of the Crosman pellets, they are fairly rigid (which is good for staying in a multi-shot clip, maybe not so much for other things).
Sniper would be talking about a reduced diameter barrel near the muzzle as "choked".
That being said- just like any new gun- try a crapload of different pellets and see what the rifle likes other than the JSB product. It's all in the experimentation, and hopefully fun... |

| Sniper, the only way to know is to try different pellets. The new Gamo I bought likes CPHP's. My chinese Beeman likes cheap Daisy wadcutters. You just never know. |

You got it correct.A choked barrel has a thinner diameter at the end that puts a uniform squeeze on the pellet, right before it exits the barrel, therefore increasing the accuracy. |

I have heard that this gun loves the JSB'S.I am considering this as my next gun,so let us know when you find a reasonably priced pellet with some good accuracy. What is your overall impression of this gun?Is it as good,as they say?

thanks for the replies. i'm well aware of the "try a bunch idea".
let me be more clear on my question. to avoid buying a bunch of ammo i might not use what i'm asking is if anyone knows in detail which brands are cleanest, with thin skirts and most uniform in manufacture.
for those who don't know. the jsb line is very very clean. no lead dust, very thin skirts, very unifom lead.
today i tried some benjamin discovery pellets. to me there nothing but relabled premiers for $1 dollar more. they shot like sh!t. i'll keep 'em for my springers.
i'm looking for more technical answer than "just try a bunch".
thanks |

| RWS/Dynamit Nobel pellets are clean and uniform, usually. Not as expensive as JSB, but not cheap either. |

ok, this thread can die now.
it won't shoot cheap pellets period. i'm not trying anymore. superdomes were all over the place. i switched to kodiaks. dead on, every time.
kodiaks are running 760ish out of the box btw. i'll be putting up detailed shot strings soon in my rifle thread. |

Nice. Thanks for the info.So are the Kodiaks the most accurate pellets you have shot out of this gun so far? |
