how do I get into the guts of the rifle.Looks like the plastic piece at the end of the barrel needs to be taken off but with it stay when i go to put it back together .Looks like parts of it goes through the barrel.

The plastic piece, or "end cap" on the Phantom/Quest/B1x guns is held in by a pin that goes through the sides of the barrel tube.

As long as you leave the trigger assembly bolt (the one with the square head that the rear-most stock screw goes into) on tight- it will hold the spring and guide in place when the pin is removed to get the end cap off.

At that point however, to do any further disassembly- that trigger bolt has to come out- but you have to make sure that the spring is supported before undoing it, or you will likely rip the trigger bolt threads and/or the threads in the rear spring guide (where the bolt screws in)- and the spring will pop out. This could be dangerous so it's a good idea to have some sort of a spring compressor for the job if you haven't got someone who's used the "hold it against a workbench real hard" method standing next to you.

So the disassembly of the phantom 500 is excactly the same as the Quest right?

Yes- it is the same guts except for the sizing on some of the parts- i.e. the top hat, rear guide, spring and piston and a couple bushings where the barrel and receiver meet- everything else is the same part as a Quest. It is the same design and layout all the way through.
