What do you do when u have a wife with BWS ( Bitchy Wife Syndrome as Joe put it)?? I have been getting the 3rd degree from the wife about the recent purchase of the Walther Falcon Hunter edition. The gun isn't even here yet and she wants me to send it back Shocked

. Something about economical hard times, lay offs at my job, and the fact that i spent $300 on an air rifle( including pellets ). She just doesnt understand what these things mean to me Crying or Very sad

. What should I do????

Mobley... just tell her you could take up bike racing instead.... $300 will buy you MAYBE a tire!!! my wife and i have a very STRICT "dont ask dont tell" policy!!! she KINDA knows what i spend on racing each season, and the AGs are ALOT less expensive.

if all else fails...try this approach...... "baby... spending $300 for an AG is cheap in the long run.... i'm going to get 100s of hours of enjoyment from it, which is a bargain.... compared to spending $10 on gas to drive to a buddy's house or bar, $20+ on drinks, $20+ on food while out, everytime i feel like doing something other than sitting on the sofa"

Hmmmm DR u might be on to something. I could just compare the cost of my airgun hobby to my computer customization hobby now that was expensive. I would maybe spend $1,000 on a computer when all was said and done and I didnt even have as much fun with them as I do with AGs. Well something has to be done I really dont want to send my Falcon Hunter back to airgun depot. I might have to make up some lie about how they wont take the gun back.

dude my wife doesn't even know how much my marauder is costing. i got a little scolded for the BSA scope i bought for it last week.

you have to buy her something nice in return!

with my new airguns my wife is half serious in wanting a pink AR-15 because i have 2 and she has none! Rolling Eyes

i can't really picture you with a REAL gun somehow dummy. Shocked

i could get her a pink crosman 760 but she won't use it. the first time she shot my AR she was calling it "ours" for a week or so. Rolling Eyes

My wife and I will have been married for 19 years come this August. I love her at least as much now as I did the day I married her and fortunately, the feelings are returned in spades. I know I've got it good.

But, all this comes from one rule we set down and pretty much "carved in stone" before we ever said our vows, and that rule is...

Always, always, ALWAYS, remember your spouse is your best friend.

Husbands and wives fight about bills.

Best friends never do. As long as the bills get paid, nobody gives a damn.

Husbands b!tch at their wives for not doing the dishes.

Best friends just do the dishes and say "I did the dishes, you cook tonight." (Or vise versa)

Best friends are happy when their best friend gets a new something they've really wanted. They share in the excitement even if it isn't exactly their thing.

My best friend bought fancy new shower curtains (I didn't think there was anything wrong with the old one!) and some shelf units the other day. I was glad she got what she wanted and will help her hang the shelves tomorrow. She also bought a new bathing suit. I didn't have to pretend I liked that one. Mr. Green

HER best friend (that's me) got a very nice new knife the other day. (Bout $150) She looked at it, thought it was very cool, commented on a couple of neat features she noticed, and that was that.

Now the key here, is that my wife and I are NOT rich. We do have to worry about the bills. We do have to pay close attention to the budget, and I have to scrimp and save and squirrel away spare change to buy the little luxury items I want. So does she. Sometimes, the money we've saved for "fun" things ends up getting spent for necessities and we have to start all over again. It's a drag, but it's not insurmountable.

But if you try to hide it? If you tell a lie? Man, you'll have to hide it forever, you'll have to remember that lie forever, and when you get busted on it (and you will eventually!) you'll have lost just that much more credibility with your best friend.

No coolio knife, burner, ag, backpack, flashlight, camp stove, whatever, is worth having your best friend look at you and rightly be able to call you a liar.

As long as the bills are paid and your responsibilities have been taken care of, there's no harm and no shame in spending money on fun stuff. Hell, you can't take it with you and the way the economy's going, the money ain't gonna be worth wiping your a$$ on in another couple years anyway. Tangible goods are always going to have more value than fiat currency. (Fiat currency is money backed by nothing, it's value comes from nothing but misplaced faith.)

In short, the money isn't worth fighting over and the goodies ain't worth lying about.

My first wife didn't understand this and our marriage lasted 2.5 years. Man am I glad I got THAT piano off my back!

last week campin'. i met a couple, fully garbed in GOOD wading gear goin' out for an evening fish. fly rods in hand, asking me why i was headed the other way.(to another hatch).
but I was jealous that they had a fun(to me)hobby to share.
Sniper's woman likes to shoot. If he can switch her to AG's, all will be better(cheap trigger time, hint).
find middle ground. let her think she's making out(if you can).
but i'm only ending a marrige, what do i know.

good thread! the marriage problems. my marriage problems have nothing to do with money. (everyone has 'em). with money it's kinda a non issue. my wife owns a business and i have absolutley no idea what she makes or does with it day to day. same visa-versa. we are married, but individual. we meet in the middle. bills are always paid. never once behind in taxes. i buy toys, so does she. but we both frown a little at eachother over new toys. (my newest vehicle is a '99. she's on BRAND NEW CAR #2). she works for it and should have it.

i only mentioned the scope cuz it was a surprise to her. she knows about my marauder.she knows it's pricey. she won't ask.hasn't. i don't question when she comes home with 5 new candles@$20 a pop. or $200 in dog travel gear. there isn't money spent that's not there. this time of year it comes in hand over fist for us.

so i'm in the middle here. Cool

i'm very lucky my woman isn't into the money thing.

and.... i know damn well if i put a bipod and the marauder all of the sudden it will be "ours"! Mr. Green
