Hi everyone!

I just acquired a Healthways Plainsman 175 overall not in bad condition. I was wondering if can tell me where the BB's go in? The rear sight lifts up but it cannot be removed, so I can't tell if there is a slot in there for them? There is a small screw next to where the CO2 cartridge is. My guess is that they go in there because I can hear a spring in there. The screw turns about 90* and that's it. I can pull on it but cannot remove it. Is it supposed to be removable?

Also is there any maintenance I can do? This thing hasn't been fired in quite some time. I don't want to take it apart unless I have to. Does anything need to be lubed?

Just did a quick google search and it appears you need the short 8gram carts. You can order them online I think. Seems like it holds 100 BBs... has 2 power settings (I think that's the screw you were turning 90*). Semi auto. They look slightly luger-ish in shape.

I can't find much other than ones for sale.

Welcome to the forum, BlackAce!

Looking around on the net I found out that the screw is a power adjuster, and that the gun uses 8 gram CO2 bulbs (not the now standard 12 gram size). Hopefully someone that has one will surface with the information that you requested.

Thanks for the welcome!

I appreciate the help but I already knew that it used the 8 gram CO2 bulbs. LOL

The problem I am having is where do I insert the BB's

I didn't know that's what the screw was, so that's cool. I was thinking that's where the BB's would go in.

I couldn't find much info on it either other than the size CO2 cartridges it uses, mainly just ones for sale like fritz said.

See if this helps:

This site talks about a "BB elevator" sticking, which implies to me that the BB's come up from underneath, meaning the grip area.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=130737515

This site talks about a "loading door":
http://www.airgunsmith.com/cgi-bin/air_pistol_review/reviews.pl?review=1047heath175

Is there anything that could be a door in the grip area?

I saw that pic on Gun Broker earlier and that's why I think the BB's go in the back under the rear sight. Also, on Airgunsmith someone there states that it hold 100 BB's in it's reservoir. Behind the rear site would be the only place on the gun that would hold that many BB's.

One thing though. Everything I have read on it says that's a pretty good gun. So that's good.

Try and find an exploded parts diagram.

Your little thing on the side says NJ. Where you are you in NJ?

Oh, I used to be able to see the Rancocas creek, but then they built houses blocking my view... Evil or Very Mad

It's ok, because the residents don't know that they live on a superfund site. Before the houses where built they were hauling dump trucks of 55galon drums out of there.
