Come on Roger, don't patronize him. He just might be a more experienced hunter if you'd compare skills. He'll go Musashi on your a$$.

An experienced hunter don't need gloves to handle his kill.

Well, at least they're rough gloves. Mr. Green

I always hold them by the end of their longest wing feather.

Of course, what's that matter when I end up sticking my fingers up in their visceral cavity while they bleed, piss, and salivate all over my exposed skin.

I always wear latex/rubber gloves when I skin my critters, because I always have open cuts/scrapes on my hands. Don't need any diseases...

And to pick up birds I grab them by a wing feather.

I think about using latex gloves, but I'd be going through those faster than a Vegas hooker goes through flavored condoms. Plus, humans skinned critters for the entire 100,000 year period leading up to the advent of rubber gloves in the 20th century. So if they can do it the old school way, I can too.

Good point. Maybe modern humans are led to believe that things WILL kill them, like eating raw meat. My grandmother refuses to believe that salmon doesn't need to be cooked 100%, so it's always burnt to hell and back. Especially since you can technically cook salmon (or most fish) in a pot with enough lemon juice to cover- then leave over night.

Try and serve me a well done steak, and see who gets thrown on the grill.

Yeah, to complete the thread jacking...I hate people who like well done meat for the sole reason that they believe meat should be "cooked". I have no problem eating a done steak, though I prefer it pink in the center for better tenderness and flavor. But I would never refuse to eat a mid well steak because I think that the bloody juice will give me ebola virus or some sh*t.

Thread Hijacked

Come on guys.... damn... If it aint dead... just snap it's neck...

A buddy came over and wanted to take a few shots... Nailed one of thoes "not in seasion birds"... but only took a wing off... I walked up and just pulled it's head clean off... Done... No gloves and I did not use soap... just the garden hose to wash the blood off... Then went back to shooting...

I think the actual problem is more psychological than anything. I know that I won't die from touching dead critters, but in today's society we are taught that everything is dirty... yada yada. Being young, I have been influenced by it more than you guys which is likely why I don't just grab the damn things.

I don't think "popping" a birds head off is ever necessary. Although I have decapitated one before. Bludgeoning works well. Just pick up a rock, stick, brick, or anything nearby that is heavy and hard and just bash it over its head till its dead. It's very fast that way.
