Anyone have any ideas? I'd really like to be able to leave my gun cocked for extended periods. I'm often working out in the shop, and if my gun was ready, there would already have been several casualties in the local crow population.

I doubt there is an "off the shelf" gas spring for it, but I have faced the same problem myself.

My solution: keep the gun loaded but not cocked. I FIRMLY grasp my barrel and break it, compressing the spring just enough to sneak a pellet into the breach. Close up the action. Now you don't have to fumble with a pellet, just cock it and go. I also made a single gun rack near the door so there is quick access. The safety features it has are a small pipe/tube holder for electrical conduit or what not the flips down to lock the barrel in and two blocks of wood to support the butt and hold that in. I set the rack off the wall enough so I can mount the gun with a scope and up top near the muzzle (which is NOT an armed gun...), my pellet case for reloads.

There was somebody around that worked with industrial-type gas springs and managed to find a unit that worked in (something, can't remember which gun...) their rifle. If I knew who manufacturer gas springs, I would get a catalog and investigate sizes and pressures...
