This is a single air shotgun pellet that struck a bird in the center of the chest and traveled down it's sternum about 4 centimeters. I was not able to remove it before cooking it, but once cooked I opened up the meat and found a cylndrical chanel filled with the pellet surrounded by the feathers that it dragged through the muscle. |

| It is strange that the feathers look like fur. |

| Feathers, scales, and hair are all made from keratin proteins, so I suppose if you shred a feather enough it might appear like hair. |

| My guess is that with the amount of Roger's prey that he eats, he's eaten lead. |

I don't kill that many birds with the air shotty, but the ones I do shoot most often never get pellets in the breast meat. So it's not an issue.
As far as the ones that have been hit in the chest, they are very easy to locate the pellets (after it is cooked). So I just break open the meat and dig out the pellet(s). |

Roger, after cooking the bird with the lead in it, you are consuming fair amounts of lead that is taken from the pellet by the meat.
Remove your lead before you cook. |

I doubt it. Especially if the pellet is covered in feathers. Also, I try not to eat any of the meat that the pellet may have directly touched.
Also, cutting open the raw meat to dissect pellets would basically ruin it. |
