Hey guys
picked this up the other day thought I would share some pics with you.
I really like the look of this rifle, and it is easy to hold. I haven't put her through her paces yet. When I do I will post my findings.

For anyone not aware of it- the 'Classic .22' is a model for Canada. It is basically a detuned Benjamin Super Streak putting out a maximum of 495fps in .22 caliber to meet Canadian laws in not being classified as a "firearm". Barrel is 4" shorter than the Super Streak and it has a lengthened piston to reduce travel (thus power). The powerplant is the same as the Crosman Quest/Phantom/TAC-1/G1 etc.
It is a nice looking rifle, and the thumbhole stock was desperately needed for the Canadian detuned market from Crosman!
losttourist- does yours have holes drilled in the barrel block to attach a Quest/Phantom type rear sight? |

| Look at that! Interesting. If Crosman will do this, why did they not offer the 2289 in the US market at 495fps too I wonder? |

Im suprised that Canadian Tire started selling them. Someone in their head office must of finally got their head out of their a$$ and realized that guns do sell........regardless of all the anti BS.
Maybe they will continue this trend........ |

Seems unlikely based on my experiences with Cantire.  They have discontinued selling the 2289s and 2240s (and I think the 1377s, but they never carried these in large numbers anyways). They are getting a fantastic deal on the Classic .22's- the current sale price ($224.99) is less than dealer cost for Canadian Crosman dealers right now- and you know Cantire doesn't do anything with less than a 50% markup. I suspect they decided most of Crosman's line-up was too "mid-range" for non-PAL products- notice they have the $300.00 "Classic" and couple Beemans around $250 and the rest is all lower-end Marksman and such- the "traditional" mid-level Crosman stuff probably didn't sell as much as the cheap stuff and didn't generate as much profit as the higher-level stuff, so they re-arranged the "product mix".
If and when most stores outside the major metropolitan areas (Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto) bring back "firearms" proper and not just the ammo, I'll believe they've gotten their heads outta their butts- but until then... |
