I have heard that in Illinois there are some new laws concerning the use of airguns, it appears that all airguns with a larger calibre than .180, or an output more than 700 fps are now considered to be firearms. Shocked

If this is true then it is more draconian than the UK’s laws on airgun ownership, and I can understand the worries of USA air gunners regarding the creep of more air gun restrictions.

But there again I suppose it depends on how much bother it is to get a firearms licence. Wink

They still can play with 22xx's. In New Jersey ANYTHING that shoots a projectile from a barrel is considered a firearm. Red Ryder bb gun or .460 Weatherby Magnum, they're all firearms.

I don't know about new laws, but there are some places that any air gun over .177 are already cosidered the same as firearms. It's why you can't get a .22 air gun in most of the so called "big box" stores like Wal-mart or Kmart. They order stock from a single location, so to cut back on paper work, nobody carries the larger calibor air guns.

It seems that your laws are more complicated than I thought, especially for the “land of the free”.Smile

At this rate you will soon be like us the “land of the repressed”Laughing

We are already repressed. You should be able to walk into Wal-Mart and buy a 50bmg, with armor piercing ammo.

I guarantee you that if everyone walked around with a .22short on the end of their pocket watch or in their back pocket it would solve a lot of today's problems. It would stop much of the problems associated with dis-respect, you don't know if that person is going to shoot you or give you the time of day. Try to jump someone or hold them up for a wallet.

When I was much younger in elementary school they showed us videos of how people who own weapons are more likely to die violently than people who do not. What a load of bull Surprised , the only reason they can say that is because gun owners are a smaller population. No matter I'd rather take my chances defending my home with a Lousville Slugger than wait for the police to show up.

Those "statistics" only work in the criminals are included. Get the raw numbers. Gun owners are still more likely to stop an intruder than be hurt. The media and some of our wonderful leaders like to "fudge" the numbers to back their platform.

I'll repeat what I've said before. Where (and when) I grew up almost every house had at least a 12 gauge and a .22 behind the front door (before A/C was common, in summer the door would be open for aif flow through the screen). Most also had a hand gun, usually on a shelf in the top of the bed room closet. I don't recall even one accidental shooting. We were taught as kids that there was a difference in a real gun and a toy one (and we didn't need a little red plastic strip on the front of the barrels of our cap guns.) I learned gun safty and shooting from my dad and grand dad beginning at 4 years old.

People need to accept the responsibilites that go with gun ownership and stop depending on the government to make laws, laws, and more laws. The people who founded our country (most of them English) knew that personal and indivual rights were what this nation would be founded on. I shall go no further leat i step on someones toes... sufice it to say that I doubt Washington or Adams would approve of todays gun laws and I know Jefferson would be appalled.

I'd be pissed if they turn my ag into a firearm. God damned Barrack Obama. You know, Illinois is where he came from.

I tell you, this Obama nation is an abomination.

I hear he is going to re-instate the ban on assault rifles. He likely doesn't even know about airguns, and won't care about them.

Don't count on that... Parts of Illinois have a complete ban on airguns, including the soft plastic pellet ones. There's also a ban on sling shots, blow guns and throwing stars as well.

Here's a good example of how far the government has gone in order to protect us from ourselves.... Try and find a store that sells a brand new set of "lawn darts".

i have the first in a bumber sticker. i need not say much cuz you already did Surprised . in ca airguns are all cash and carry in all power levels (i think, dunno about quakenbush). firearms are different. i am a 6 time registered "assult gun" owner. whatever the f$#k that means. finger printed, notary, DOJ forms serial #'s....whatever. magazines are limited to 10 rounds or less. good law!! las vegas is a short drive away. factory p-14 mags in vegas for $75. duh. 50bmg was recently banned. no more fun for rich guys.

gun show stickers i have

guns kill people like spoons make rosey odonnel fat.
guns cause crime like flies cause garbage
is your church atf approved
ban semi authomatics- make the streets safe for a government take over.

glad i got on the burners when i did. i can fire 250 rounds out of my ak-47 and only reload twice. and i sleep with a golf club...... Rolling Eyes

I searched for the source of the quotes you mentioned...I had a bumper sticker that said when guns are outlawed only out laws will have guns back in 1969. it was only on my car a short while before some lover of free speech from the left tried to rip it off and left a torn piece of paper on the car... go figure.

In my search for quote soures I ran on so many attacks on gun rights (nove of them actually logical) that it boggles the mind. I suppose its like any other idea that we can be taken care of by the government.... Just make everyone else give up that pesky right you arent using anyway, and all will be well.
