I have been shooting with a Gamo CF30 for some time now and have been surprised by how far it can shoot accurately. I have even seen a video on YouTube of a guy hitting a soda can at 100m with the CF30.
I want to hear at what distances it is possible shoot accurately...
What is the longest shot you have ever taken succesfully? Plinking, target, or hunting. What air rifle did you use and what are it's specs(muzzle velocity, sight etc.) and what ammo did you use?
Danie

Maybe 23ib0d0n will tell us more about his PCP setup:
http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=196
Apparently he shoots 100yard targets in his sleep- just because he can!
And after looking over the specs on the Gamo CF-30, it isn't all that powerful in its stock configuration (accurate though!) at 900fps using .177s- so the 100 meter soda can shooter must have modified theirs a bit to get that range and accuracy. Not a knock on the CF-30- just not alot of power in its stock form to try and rely on hitting a soda can effectively at much over 60-70m. |

The Bob Dean tuned Quackenbush .308 was built to shoot 4~5 shots at 260fpe~310fpe on high power {~155grn @ 925f/s ~180grn @ 885f/s}

Usually get 2" ~3" groups at 100m although there have been a few dime size trophy groups.
Offhand is not always such small groups.
{Especially with a breeze} The few times I've setup to shoot 200m I've gotten 6" to 8" groups but I'm sure that the guns can do much better than that. Better optics for longer distance should be here soon. More as the distance project / saga continues |

Hi there Danie, the best I can get with a Umarex Winchester is a 40mm group at 25m, using .177 Hobbys 7g and peep sight at 650 fps, I think it was on it's limit then, in fact I can match it with my Twinmaster using Bisley Practice .177 and red dot sight at 550 fps but there again it was on the limit.
Anyway tell us what you have achieved with the CF30.
