Well I guess I can put the Hacksaw away for now. About 850 rounds through the gun and it seems to be settling in nicely (I hope it continues).
That gal and I had our moments
I think I'll let her reach a nice old age of around 1,500 rounds before deciding to do anything. In the mean time just reading and learning. |
So what did you have in mind for it after 1,500 rounds? |

I don't hate the product so much as the marketing practices. The image I use is the Gamo Stutzen. I have one and it's a fine air gun, I also had a PT 80 that wouldn't group two pellets withing shouting distance of each other and broke it's seal at first chance...My joke about the elephant, well..it's about the boar and the attitude that lets someone put an animal through that much pain just to prove that in the "right circumstances" you can kill a boar with a .177 calibor pellet. The only situation I can imagine for that would be some survival situation where I only had the air rifle with me...not very likely, but possible I suppose. While I eat meat and hunt...I can't see using an inhumane kill to sell a product. Just me.
So far as the product goes...no worse than any other mid-range airgun. Some products good others poor. They're noted for a weak trigger, but my Stutzen isn't bad. Their varmint guns will do the job when used appropiatly and not on game to big for the rifle or the load.
They hipe the PBA ammo way too much....hit a bear with it flying at supersonic speed, it's still a 17 calibor weighing 5 grains. Also the diablo shape (hour glas design) which is great, becomes unstable above sound speed and is then wildly inaccurate... so the PBA pellets are really only useful for low power guns. They can also be hard on higher powered springers, little restince...a little like dry firing.
I'd say make your own decision. Some guys are so offended by the marketing etc. that they won't buy Gamo at all, others dislike them for other reasons (maybe got a realy bad gun), some like them others, like me are sort of in the middle. |

If I would buy a Gamo, it would be a used one. But then, everything I buy is used because I don't feel like wasting to much money on things. |

Hi
I have had mine for a couple of weeks now. I have put about 500 through it, and it seems much smoother now. you can feel the difference in the operation of cocking hte rifle
My overall impression after this time is great fun. |
