Just thought I would make myself known.
I have just purchased a new Gamo Shadow 1000, with a Hawke 3-9 Sport HD. Yep, I know alot on here are not so keen on this brand, but I did my research, and on review centre, there were lots of good comments on this gun. The other problem is that I am left handed, however strangely enough most dealers list this gun as right handed when it is in fact ambidextrous.
The limit for some time, will be my ability, and air guns have changed considerably since I was a kid.
My reasons for getting one are several, both for a middle aged guy to have some fun both with his teanage son who is developing a severe case of vampire tan! and well, just for me!
The gun is just great, at 14Metres it quickly started punching holes in 1/2" ply, so went to 3/4" MDF, which also quickly got, well quite cheese like.
So off to work, chatted nicely to one of our subcontractors next door, who kindly provided me with several sheets of 10mm aluminium. Now I get a very satisfying "splat", and the pellets squash to flat pancakes, with a small impact crator left in the ali.
So, out with the spray can at work, and marked out 10-30m in 5m divisions, and blinking heck!, at 30m I am lucky if I can hit the target sheet, never mind the spot on the target!!
Still I am having lots of fun, my son has even seen what fresh air is like, but the wife keeps beating me, so much more pratice needed.

Welcome to AirGunHome carll and also to the sometimes frustrating sport of air gunning. Personally I’m not familiar with the Gamo but I’m sure there are plenty of people on here who do, the big thing with springer rifles is the hold, which needs to be light, and a lot of practice. Nice choice of scope it should serve you well.

Also note- it's not that all Gamo products are poor, some are pretty good. It's the problem with their marketing and that some of their product is junk- so it's sometimes hard trying to determine which model is good or bad.

I used to have a Gamo Shadow 1000, and it was a great little gun. Very rugged too, they can survive just about anything except getting tossed out a window! Very Happy

Welcome fellow Gamo Shadow 1000 owner! I don't have any problems with my rifle. Yeah the trigger could use some work but for the price it a great little rifle.

Don't let anybody rain on your parade - Gamo air rifles are as good as any.
Airguns are like girls - if she is yours, she's beautiful.

One nice thing about an airgun that doesn't break the budget, is that it is easy to acquire several.
Since your wife is getting so proficient with the Shadow maybe she should have it as her own. Now then, with your hands empty, maybe filling them with a Gamo Hunter 1250 or Extreme or a CFX, would be in order. We shan't forget the lad now, as a Crosman Phantom or G1 might make the smile of sunshine grace his handsome face.

Doing something as a family with a mutual hobby seems to me about as nice as it gets Smile
