you'd really need to chrono it. velocity claims are a marketing ploy. your rifle probably doesn't do more than 13fpe in .177 and maybe 15fpe in .22. my tech 89 hits 21fpe in .22 but it is a beast with a much larger spring. the velocity claims are always with the lightest pellets which are mostly useless.  however, 6fpe is supposed to be the minimum for tree rats. |

moose,I had one of those Beeman Duel Calibers and I hated it with a passion.
I was using Daisy waddcutters and pointed pellets in .177 cal. and they would not do anything.I think I used some Crosman round nose pointed pellets for the .22 and still could hit any thing.I took it back to Wal Mart.
My best bet it was the pellets,you just got to find some that it will shoot the best.You probly should have found a place that sells a sampler pellet tray that has many different kinds and brands in it to try out. |

Lol, I would love to find a local supply of .22 pellets. No one within 4 hours of here sells anything other than Daisy wadcutters in .22. There must not be a very large demand for it in this area. All of the .22 pellets I have were ordered from Pyramyd. I'll shop around, if I find any pellets other than the ones I've already tried, I'll pick them up and give them a shot. Couldn't hurt, and it would be great to have both barrels working as advertised. Still, I'm happy with it as a .177. That barrel shoots great.
Oddly enough, the only pellet I found that didn't shoot well in the Benjamin was the Predators. Everything else groups fine. |

I also have a Benjamin but mine is the 397 - .177 caliber.I have never tried to shoot paper to see how accurate it is.But just shooting around the house,it shoots pretty accurate.I just hate the pumping.I shot it one time since I got my Beeman R9 and the trigger seemed like it took a ton to pull after adjusting the "Rekord Trigger" down,I dont know how light it is,but I turned the screw about 1 -1 1/4 turns.
I thought you had the Benjamin on lay-away? |

I did have one on lay-away for about a week, then I found out that Pyramyd had them for a cheaper price so I just got my money back from the store and ordered the one from Pyramyd Air and saved a few pennies. My mom actually gave me the money back that I used to pay for it, as a birthday gift. Thanks mom! 
Lessons learned;
1.) Order things around your birthday.
2.) Shop online to find the best price before putting something on lay-away.
3.) Even after you've spent 4 years in the military, deployed to a war zone, and now work in a factory where you use a pneumatic staple gun all day long, your mom will still say "you'll shoot your eye out" if you mention getting another air rifle. 
The trigger on my Benji is pretty good. The Beeman trigger is pretty awful but it does have adjustment screws (I just don't know how to use them). The Beeman trigger also seemed a lot worse once it got below freezing outside. It probably needs a good lube tune. The only thing in the owner's manual about the adjustable trigger said to never touch the front screw. I'm assuming that the back screw is the one you loosed/tighten to adjust? What about the larger screw behind that one? |
