Just a couple things people might like:

a) decent selection of smileys

b) Avatars are enabled- upload what you like (assuming it's not indecent)

c) Pictures can be posted in every topic/response and they are not removed based on time/lack of use, according to the service hosting them. So, you don't need your own hosting service/url to get your pics up for people to see.

When you posted a link to the article about muzzle recrowning over on the Crosman 1077 owner's site.

I have a couple of 1077s, and when they get out of warranty, I'm thinking of trying some of the modifications listed there.

Let me try your image posting here, Airgun E., show you how they look all stock:

Hey there Redster.

Nice. Is that the Crosman 4x32 scope on the top picture? On the lower rifle- is that a Crosman sight, or someone elses?

I have two 1077's as well- both still were in warranty (one I got from a guy who only bought it a couple months before) the other brand-new one was crap right out of the box, so Crosman exchanged it- the next one was better- but it was still far from perfect so I thought I might as well try to improve it. So, it got the 'treatment' which definetly made things better and I'm alot happier with it- even with no warranty since I've taken it apart.

Actually, I'm looking forward to using both of them more- it's like 15* F around here and I can't shoot in my basement- so when warmer weather arrives and a CO2 cartridge might last longer than 30 shots (if I shoot 'em before everything cools down completely) I'll really stick it to the 1077's and see what they can do.

Oh, and welcome aboard- we need to get more people around here- so if you know anyone who likes airguns- send 'em on over.

A 4x32. I got it on sale at Walmart, with the mounts, for less than $25 US.

Yes, that is the Crosman Red Dot, model number 0290RD, the one I hear a lot of people complain about when they try to use it in bright sunlight. I have to say on my little backyard range I have not experienced that in the bright Arizona sunlight. Maybe I just got lucky?

HI

Is there any chance of having a spell checker of some sort on the "post a reply" window, Possibly the same layout as the spell checker on microsoft word that underlines spelling errors with red lines and automatically changes common/obviouse spelling mistakes.

Just a thought!

Stevie7777 Thumb Up!

It's something to look at- however, the basic program this board runs on (phpbb) is an "open source" application (i.e. free to acquire, use and modify) and thus there are no purchasable modules like a spell-checker that can be easily plugged-in. In order to modify the boards setup, things need to be reprogrammed- either with someone else's basic template/map or by creating one. I reprogrammed bits/pieces of this board, changed its appearance and so on- but implementing a more significant feature is a fair bit more work than that.

One day maybe we'll get something like that going. The other option is that if we can collect a larger membership then figure out how to raise some money- we can outright buy another bulletin board package (like vbb, for example) that has many of these sorts of features already installed- one just needs to customize its appearance and it's ready to go.

Stevie:

I just came across something I had totally forgotten about: Some internet browsers have a built-in spell checker that checks things as you type/post.

For example- Mozilla Firefox has this feature- but Microsoft's Internet Explorer v6.x doesn't. I'm not sure about Opera or other browsers- but they may have this feature as well- you just need to make sure it's activated.

Hi

I use IE7 at the moment which also doesn't have a spell checker on the tool bar (Damn that Bill Gates), Any way I downloaded the Google tool bar which has a built in spell checker on the toolbar, It works great, definitely beats using the Google search engine as a dictionary! LOL.

Thanks for the info! Very Happy

Stevie

Another note: Registered users who are logged on- every time you visit the site all the new posts get highlighted so you don't have to go hunting the hard way to find something you haven't seen before.

For anyone looking around but not registering, this won't work- the bulletin board software tracks your last logged-on visit- this information isn't stored in your computer's 'cookies'- thus why every time you come around you see no "Red Bulbs" to show you where the new stuff is sitting.
