Why wont it fit?
I've tried, my uncle and cousin tried.

Is there anything I can do to get it mounted onto my crosman?
It seems to be a little too short, if that helps.

Well thats a waste of time.

The scope mounts arent wide enough to fit over the both lips.

You have Dove tail mounts....You NEED a Weaver mount

Dove tail are about 11mm in the claw opening.
Weaver are 20mm in the claw opening

The current 2100s have a dovetail rail on them- did older 2100s use a Weaver-style rail?

I have no idea what a 2100 looks like.
I assummed that if the rings are to narrow for the grooves
He was trying to put dovetail mounts on a weaver rail.
Is there any other option?
I only know of 2 size fittings Dovetail or weaver.

I assume he's loseing the claw bolt off before trying to fit them.

The 2100 has a nominal 3/8" dovetail rail. Here is a photo of a sight made for the larger Weaver rail - you can see it's much bigger than the Crosman's dovetail:

Is this the case, or do you have the correct (3/8") rings, and they just won't fit on the gun? You mention that you have a 20mm scope; sometimes those rings don't have two-piece clamps - the clamping screw actually bends the claws together. That, plus the dovetail is molded into the plastic on the gun, and may be slightly oversize. Again, pictures would help. If the claws don't open enough to engage the dovetail from above, try sliding it on from the front:
