Went out of town this weekend and took my son to Starcadia,Bass Pro Shop was right around the corner so we went there afterwards.
I was at the airguns and this guy said to his wife,"This thing shoots 1200 fps, thats probly with lead,I bet if you shoot PBA's it'll shoot 1500 fps".
So,being the guy I am,I tried to tell him that I just started looking into airguns a couple months ago and from what I'v read about PBS's,they are not that accurate shooting that fast.
He asked me "Have you ever shot PBA pellets?". No,I repied.
Don't knock'em till you tried'em.They are one of the most accurate pellets I'v shot.
Well,I did kinda felt stupid after that, but I'll still believe what I'v read on forums v/s his word. |

| Maybe it's like with those Enfields. At a certain moment they had a round that was hugely inaccurate at close range, but hugely accurate at long range. I have no idea, why, but that's why they had such a weird caliber. |

I tried them in my Slavia 631 (603 FPS w/8.2 grain Meisterkugeln's) and they weren't that accurate. For that price they should loiter for an hour and seek targets themselves!
Plus, Gamo is so into velocity hype to sell their products that I don't trust them.
That said, I have to acknowledge that there are people that that swear by them. Try them out; maybe your gun/pellet combination is the one where they work. |

These, right?
Anything sold in a package with that shape is bound to be money in the bin. |

Yep,looks like'm.
I dont know, maybe in the pump guns they might do OK.I never asked him what gun he shot them out of.
But never the less, being that lite,I dont think they would do too well at knockin squarrels out of a tree.Maybe a 250 lbs hog,but dont let it land on ya. |

That is, without a doubt, one of the most absurd and offensive things ever done by an airgun manufacturer. If there's a reason to not deal with a specific manufacturer based on morals- that whole killing a boar with a .177 air rifle with these "magic pellets" was definitely it. |

I bet the hunt was staged... it seemed like it was too easy for him to walk up and pop the hog.
I personally do not associate with GAMO except to buy thier match pellets, which have suffered over the years. They used to be much better, but have now gotten less accurate. But I cannot stay away from those pellets because they are so cheap and decently accurate. |

Ya the kill was staged I'm pretty sure...and makes us all look bad. Use enough gun and round to kill anything, pig or otherwise.
I use PBAs in my co2 pistols or my 1077 now and again. They aren't bad if you're not trying to push them beyond sound speed, but they aren't as said before, "magic".
Maybe if they made some pellets out of silver...????... |
