I find myself just about "talked into" trying a Tech Force 99 Mag. They've got the price so low and I've read a lot of good reports on this Chinese/American rifle. Has anyone got first hand knowledge?

I wasn't impressed. Rolling Eyes

Fit & finish is poor, while accuracy was non existant until I put over 100 hours of machining as well as several hand made parts into it.

The absolute pinnacle of 'turd polishing', so jump on it only if you just want to eat up a huge amount time and still not be able to shoot a worth while group anyway . . . Evil or Very Mad

10/4 got the message. I'd seen a lot places where there were good reviews, but those can be suspect. I suppose I'll hold off. The 99 mag. was is down to around $100 at Campasco. Is that the model you got?

I think you need to go for the XS B30-1. I hear they're almost cloned from the D-48, and with some tuning, you got a real gem. Mr. Green I almost bought one, but I ran into the real thing. I've gladly payed more then a 100 dollars more for that. Mr. Green

Turd polishing. That's great. I vote that we have a section
labeled as such. I nominate the P17/2004/2005/2006 (did I
miss any?) as it is pretty bad, OEM.

Before.

After.

Minus the turd, it's a very sweet pistol.

I'm confident that Slavia will co-sign me on this one.

Got a couple from there {won't do business there again} and a couple used. Put together 2 that could actually spit a pellet out, but couldn't be scoped and the irons are pretty poor . . . Rolling Eyes

The frightening thing is that if you just search for reviews, most are positive. they make a big deal of the American spring and how great it is, and have testimonies as to how great the guns are. That's why I was looking for someone who actually tried one. Supposedly the "new" 99 mag. is improved...just wanted to know before blowing a "C" note. Thanks.

And your confidence would be well placed.

Although I wouldn't necessarily put the P17 down in the "turd" category. You get a lot for very little money.

Right out of the box, I would classify mine as a turd. If
some person, who has no idea about airgun repair had
bought it, it would have been returned or thrown out.

The TF-99 is a stamped knurl stock version of an Industry QB36-2.
