Branz,
Having experienced a Chinese rifle why would even consider another?
By a good quality German rifle and you'll keep it for years.I have Diana Mdl.48 in .22 cal .Out of the box they are shooters, powerful and a trigger that is adjustable to you.I have since acquired another 48 .22 that was already tuned by Jim Maccari, now were talking a smooth as silk power house.I picked it up on Brads list for a mear $225 a year or so ago.
Anyway here's the one I found a little while ago after reading your post.

RWS Diana MDL 48 in .22 caliber

Good Luck! No matter what you buy.

Airguneric- Wow. I didnt think it would be that complicated...Anyways thanks for the information. So the B40 is actually discontinued or is it marketed under a different brand/model? Also would any of the facts you mentioned affect a warranty claim? The reason I ask is I would have to ship (see $) a rifle back to the manufacturer/distributor, have them right any problem, and then have them ship (see $) the rifle back to me. With shipping being roughly $70-80 dollars one way, plus the original cost of the rifle/shipping, I would be approaching the cost of a TX.

BBgunbob- For the price of the B40 and the overwhelming good reviews it was hard to not consider it. The local shops here carry the B40 and also the RWS 48. The B40 is going for $460 so I didnt even bother asking how much they wanted for the 48. So naturally it would be cheaper to get on on-line and pay the shipping. Initially of course (see above). Also with them being a firearms store I really dont think their return policy will be as forgiving as a big box store. I think Im just trying to convince myself that the Tx would be a better buy....Pyramid has .22 right hand beech in stock...

I don't believe the B40 is discontinued. Maybe out of stock, but still listed on the importer's website: http://www.xisicousa.com/xs-b40.html

As for warranty- that I don't know, perhaps some stores will take it back and handle it for you, but I suspect if something goes bad you will be sending it straight to Xisico in Texas.

Airguneric- Texas isnt to bad as far as a shipping standpoint. As far as the local stores Im pretty sure I will be having to send it to the 'mainland'. Good news though, I got the okay to go ahead and get the TX200!!! Now Im just debating if I will take that money and get 2 rifles or just the TX....hmmm decisions....

Get the Anyway, Gamo plastic = s***

They break(like most gamos) and they are not worth having.

Agreed?

You can only shoot one rifle at a time. Might as well make it a good one.

You mentioned the TF99, I,ve been looking at that for some time. The newer one has some improvements, though i don't know if they replaced the plastic trigger. I got a TF66 a few weeks ago, thought it might be a pretty good back pack gun. It's a little heavier than I expected. I'm not disappointed in it. It needs a few hundred more pellets through it to break it in right but for $125 it's a pretty good rifle.

Next time I decide I can spend on a new rifle (probably next year at the soonest) I may try the Tech Force 99 or go with a Shark bulk fill. They look really interesting to, oddly they're manufactured without a saftey, but the reviews I've managed to find are very good as far as performance goes.

cw- Cant argue with that logic...Since the wife okayed the TX price I find myself pushing the limits....Get the TX and be satisfied or get 2 rifles and give her the old "well I couldnt pass on that deal"...

Rogerflat- Yeah but I am used to having pumper and a Co2 just in case I need that quick follow up shot. I know its kinda pointless carrying around 2 springers but I do have brothers that sometimes join me. Would love to have that extra 'quality'(see not from Wal-Mart) gun just to show off of course....

thepaladin- All the reviews I have seen on the TF 99 were not favorable. I have not seen a Shark Bull nor do I presume to know what that is. I will do some searches on it. I just saw an episode of Airgun Reporter and he did a review on the Benjamin Discovery. Not a bad price for a PCP rifle. Also had a lot of favorable reviews on that rifle. Seems like everyday Im talking myself into more expensive rifles and back ups....

Amigo- Thanks again for that info on Flying Dragon. Mike just qouted me an unbelievable price shipped. Only problem is that he does not have any B40's in stock to send out. He also answered my emails in a very informative and timely manner. Always a plus in my book.

That's a "bulk fill" it's a fairly powerful co2 gun I was looking at, so not a springer. I was simply saying it was one I was considering for my own next purchase, there are 2 I was looking at really:

The Benji Disco seems to hold up surprisingly well, probably beccause everything the the Benjamin line often seems to have a better quality control in comparison to other Crosman stuff. Mr. Green

thepaladin:

Were you aware that he TF-99 (available from Compassico) was an Industry Brand QB36-2 with some knurl (checkering) stamped into the stock? Also, on occasion, Compassico installs a McCarrie spring.

South Summit sells the QB36-2 for about $85 + S&H. Got mine there about a year ago for a little less along with a QB88.

Regards,

Amigo

thepaladin- Just checked it out. Looks pretty good. nice price too. One thing that turns me away is the fact it shoots bb's and not pellets.

cw- Noted. I didnt think I would find one in my price range. Now I just opened up a whole new can of worms...

broommaster2000- Thats what most of the reviews confirmed. Would you happen to know why the dual fuel rifles cost less? I know Paul Cabelo (sp?) did his Airgun Reporter review on the dual fuel and the C02 was of course significantly less powerful. But other than that I dont think that would affect the gun or the price? Seemed to be pretty accurate also. Just a thought but would the lower speed of the CO2 cause a 'sighted in' scope to be 'off'? I mean as far as sighting in using air then switching to C02 and shooting without adjusting the scope.

I'm not sure if you mean the Shark, it doesn't use bbs it uses the .22 calibor lead balls, but will handle regular pellets one at a time. It has a rifled barrel.

The TF99 has a new version out, but I'm not sure if the only changes are cosmetic, that's the one I looked at, but like I said, i think I may be interested enough to go for the Shark. But...it's probably some months away baring miricles. Smile
