Looking at the these, both seem to be equal, except for price. Need help with pros and cons of each. If you were to buy one, which would you choose and why?

Many Thanks,
Johnny.

I'd go for that Gamo, because it's a springer. It's quicker to shoot, it's less fuss, and it's quite powerfull. Multi-pumpers are in my opinion a failure.

However, if I'd go for a springer, I'd go for a used one in decent condition.

I'd go for a used gun in the first place.

Broom is just cheap- Very Happy

I too prefer springers over pumpers- but that's a personal choice for people.

If we take the power source out of the question, I think the Super Streak is the better quality rifle overall.

Which Gamo Hunter do you want to buy? The 1250 is supposed to be made by BSA, which means that the Quality is better.

If you get a 1250 in 4.5, you'd need to downtune it. It's better in .22. It's quite a savages' rifle, but if I'd go for any Gamo, that would be the one.

Yeah, if you can live with the trigger, go with the Gamo.

I think I might go that way to. I considered the Super streak when I bought the Falcon (which I'd still choose over the Super streak again). The power listed for the Benjamin interested me.

Yep, I am looking at the 22 versions only. The Gamo I am interested in, is the Hunter Extreme. The Benjamin Sheridan I am interested in, is the Super Streak. Both are high power springers, with nearly same velocity, both come with scopes, both are recommended for hunting.

I am interested in accuracy as well as power, and of course, reliability. I can easily strip down and rebuild an airgun, so I can maintain. Would rather not tinker, would rather get tight and consistent groups at 30 yards, but can easily rebuild or service if I have to.

I am very confused over what i have heard for both rifles. Some swear by them, others at them. Are they any good? Are they built shoddily, crappy parts, or poor machining? Should I forget about them both and go with something else? Or are they rough gems in need of a slight adjustment here and there?

Many thanks for your help!!!
John.

Pardon me, the Benjamin is a break-barrel too.

I've never anyone of any authority state that the Gamo Hunter is Made in England- just a couple people here and there. Any proof of this?

If indeed the Gamo is made in England, it may be the better rifle overall. That being said, I find it hard to believe it is Made in England. Gamo does own BSA, but they have kept the product lines separate it seems. Is the Gamo Hunter made in the UK? I dunno- and until I did for sure I would go with the Benjamin.

Actually, I debate the quality of any springer shooting over 1200fps, especially one from Gamo (i.e. the biggest market hype airgun manufacturer around).

Please be aware that Gamo fps velocity ratings are cherry picked values using their 5 grain PBA pellets. Also, a diabolo pellet at super-sonic speeds is unstable and inaccurate. However, most of the chrony numbers I've seen for the Gamo Hunter Extreme .22 cal., fall in the 700 to 800 fps range (with light pellets).

As far as trigger pull, to get anywhere close to the Sheridan, the Gamo would require the GRT III drop-in trigger from Bob Werner aka charliedatuna priced at $32 or $35.

For "out-of-the-box" ready to shoot, the Sheridan Super Streak wins hands down.

Out of fairness to Gamo, the nice thing about the Hunter series is they still have a wood stock. The wood can be more easily altered for correct length of pull and angle than their plastic stocked models.

Good Luck,

Amigo

I read somewhere that the Hunter Extreme says on the side "Made in England". That points a lot towards the fact that it is made by BSA. BSA is one of the better brands around. That's why I would go for the Gamo Hunter Extreme.

Isn't there anyone around here with a Gamo Hunter Extreme?

I'm confirming it at the Dutch forum. By the way, the Gamo Hunter 1250 and Hunter Extreme are the same rifle, only with a different stock.

If they are indeed made by BSA, then why did they fabricate such a
horrible trigger for it?
