i guess after listening to me go on and on about how badly i want a PCP rifle... my wife finally granted me her permission to make the purchase. so i need some advice from some actual users of these things.
question #1. single shot or repeater?
2. are there any out there that are at least as quiet as a spring gun?
3 are they all compatible with Co2 like the Discovery?
intended uses will be everything from plinking to target shooting, to small game hunting. |

| cw, thanks for the input.... that is one wicked looking gun!! i tend to lean towards "traditional" styling, but i'm more than open to new things. |

| after doing some more searching and looking, i havent narrowed down my decision one bit.... seems i want one of everything!! i really like the FX rifles, but naturally, the one i like is the most expensive, after the gun and all the needed accessories, i would be shelling out 2 grand, i KNOW my wife didnt have that much in mind!! maybe half that. keeping that in mind, i'm thinking i can satisfy both my tastes, a base model Airforce Condor (thanks cw for showing me how much they can be customized!!) which i call add to later. and also get the Benjamin Discovery combo..... just hope that the wife hasnt been keeping count of the empty spaces in the gun cabinet!! |

A multi-shot is usefull if you plan to use it for more then hunting.
What do Dominator 850's cost over there? They're pretty good, and quite affordable. |

Why don't you buy a pair of BALLS while your at it!
I ain't married, but if I was, it would go down something like this. My wife would come home from work and I'd be sitting thier on the recliner polishing my brand new PCP. She'd walk in the room and I'd say, "Honey, look at what we bought today!" |

Walther/Umarex. It's the Airmagnum 850 on steroids. There is a 20 and a 40 joule version. You'll want to long tube that is about the same lenght as the barrel. There is also one that stops at about the third quarter of the barrel, but it doesn't look half as good. Yes, it's a PCP and it's quite a good one too. |

No, then I would have said that it was a modified Airmagnum 850. The Walther Dominator 1250 is sold as a PCP, and is a little different concerning the action. There is a great difference in the valve/ventile, as it has some sort of in build regulator (for the PCP). There are also some small differences in the hammer spring, hammer, etc. The hammer is a small metal block, in stead of a round thing in a cylinder like on Crosman models.
It's a gun that will do great out of the box, and with some little modifications done to it (with little, I mean really tiny, because the overal finish of the gun is great) it will outshoot guns that cost over 500 dollars more.
It's also cheaper to buy a 1250 then to modify an Airmagnum into one. |

I believe part of the issue here is that this was a typo- even Umarex does not list a "Dominator 850"- they have a newer AirMagnum 850 "Hunter", but no Dominator 850.

| If you follow Broom's posts- he is obviously talking about the 1250, not a "Dominator 850" which was likely just a brain fart. The 1250 is the cousin to the AirMagnum 850 in design and layout, but parts are not terribly interchangeable between the two, apparently. The LG-300 (PCP) is the parent to both. |
