Got some parts in from Crosman earlier today, with a thrust washer/spring spacer (#C1K77-013).

Everyone always talks about how this synthetic piece tends to be ripped apart slowly by the spring. 'Slavia' here even went so far as to re-design the stock unit to make it more efficient and less prone to problems/wear: http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=1760

Now here's the punchline- Crosman has changed this part to steel- not synthetic (plastic/resin)!

I pulled out other spacers sent by Crosman that have never seen the inside of a rifle. In order of age (oldest to newest):

The first is a duller plastic/resin and is the oldest, the second is a shinier and slightly taller plastic/resin and the third is the steel piece.

Seems Crosman has been redesigning. Pulling out my handy-dandy Fuller digital calipers:

Oldest spacer: top land 18.94mm/0.7455", 2nd land 21.04mm/0.8285", third land/base 23.95mm/0.943". Overall height is 35.58mm/1.401" and it weighs in at 9 grams.

Slightly newer spacer: top land 18.31mm/0.721", 2nd land 21.01mm/0.827", third land/base 23.65mm/0.931". Overall height is 38.51mm/1.516" and it weighs in at 9 grams.

Newest steel spacer: top land 18.54mm/0.730", 2nd land 20.76mm/0.8175", third land/base 24.66mm/0.971". Overall height is 38.2mm/1.5045" and it weighs in at 72 grams- EIGHT TIMES what the plastic spacers weigh!

Some of these dimensions will be variable, I'm sure, based on Chinese manufacturing methods- but it seems like Crosman is directing the factory to solve issues.

I would have to assume this new steel piece will find its way into rifles being produced now- and hopefully eliminate any wear/breakage issues the older plastic/resin spacers may have been suffering.

Not sure what that extra 63 grams (over 2 ounces) will do for the rifle...

Crosman Model #C1K77 also includes the Sierra Pro and Remington Summit, so hopefully the 3 stepped steel bushing will be included in the later production of those also.
Glad you made the discovery. I may order some of them (-013) for mine, to be installed at next tear-down.

Just so you guys know...

Crosman has people watching the forums for new ideas and improvements... Especially the Green Forum.

My Rep. tells me all the time she sees my stuff on the forums and lets the uppers know about them...

I think it is a good thing... hopefully it will translate into improvements in quality and design.

It's nice that they visit "forums"- but it is ONLY the "green" as far as I've ever been able to tell. Which, while the "green" can be a wonderful resource- it's format isn't great as a result of being on "Network 54" and finding info that is not on the front page can get difficult. But- hey, at least it's not the "yellow" forum. Mr. Green

Encourage your Crosman friend to come around here. Heck- get them to look at our posts on the Phantom 500- the rep. I must deal with at Crosman refuses to believe the Phantom 500 and Quest had different internals in them- despite pictures being sent. Maybe when they see there are dozens/scores of people with the same findings they won't be so quick to dismiss what they're being told. This is not a "knock" on Crosman- but perhaps some of their personnel need to open their eyes a bit more and really listen to what's being said. Actually, maybe that's the problem- the people at Crosman who are curious and actually go about looking at information are perhaps not the ones dealing directly with dealers and end-user customers on a daily basis(?).

Nice to see the part made in steel. This one has a fighting chance to actually be a thrust bearing, and not just a plastic lock washer.

As for a Crosman section - it's worth considering, with some definition of terms. I don't regard my G1 as a Crosman - it's Chinese. Neither do I regard my RM577 as a Crosman - it's a Mendoza. When I think of Crosman, i think of my 2240 and its cousins.

My Phantom .22 came with the steel spacer inside. I bought it at Walmart around July/August.
