Picked up a used Benjamin Legacy yesterday. I haven't taken it apart completely, but it appears to be the precursor to the newer "Quest/B18" platform found in all current Crosman springers.
Funny part is, the box says "Made in the U.S.A." and it does use heavier parts and a better trigger setup than the newer guns.
Anyone know anything about the Legacy? |

I believe that parts are interchangeable with the Remington Genesis. As with the Quest/Phantom they were/are sold in Canada with a longer piston to slow it down but the piston is of a larger diameter than the Phantom and has a relief machined along most of the length of the piston except at the ends, which have the full diameter of compression tube.
After a while my barrel developed some side-to-side movement. Since I didn't pay much, I experimented by drilling and tapping holes parallel to the pivot bolt at the compression tube fork , put some brass screws in them and removed virtually all of the movement by almost "clamping" the breech. Blue loc-tite allows me to adjust the screws as the ends wear from the cocking action. Condensation attacted mine, but it still shoots well and it often seems I can hit far targets more consistently with a Legacy than with a Diana 350.
Ratite at Airgunsmith was a go-to guy but last I heard he was heading off into the sunset. |

I've been looking into it a bit more since I posted the original question- and Yes, the "Remington" Genesis is the same mechanics as the Legacy- only differences are the stock, tube and barrel block (cosmetics in these cases).
Can't get the Legacy stock from Crosman anymore- which is too bad- mine is missing the stippling (seems the prior owner refinished the stock and must have sanded it off)- but the Genesis stock is still listed- so I may turn this into a more "high tech" looking piece.
Haven't had a chance to do any shooting with it yet- but so far so good... |
