I wanted something to kill the loud muzzel crack that echoed around the buildings, but still went with a bang, so I came up with this, it's not a silencer or muzzel brake it's what you might call a sound moderator. Plus it looks nice.

Yes, you can change the sound by altering the length and hole size, this one is 1 1/8" long.

How much space is there in the tube of that gun to allow you to screw such a piece in front of the barrel without ending up with a brake/moderator-looking end? Yours fits on matching the barrel tube diameter exactly- why is there so much extra tube around the barrel?
It is very nice too, by the way- and not so obvious it is attached to the gun. Nice work. |

The barrel is one solid piece of 20mm dia steel bored out 2.75 deep to create a built in mini silencer. Thats why the gun weighs 9.5 lb, but it is stable.
Its bits like this that make the diffrence beteen the AA tx and the B40 which has a shrouded barrel with spacers between the barrel and shroud

I use my own formula for blueing, which is polish the item to the degree you require and clean thoroughly, heat to a dull cherry red ( do this in a darkened room or you will not see the change), and quench it in a bath of oil.
The oil I use is what we call over here "suds oil" which is cooling oil that you mix with water, for use as a cooling and lube on machine tools, it looks like milk when mixed. It dosn't work as well with ordinary oil, although you can experiment depending on the type of oil used changes the finished colour from light blue to dark brown.
Have fun

This is for a 1077.
I use a spacer whare the rear sight used to be. another just in front of the barrel band and the third is actualy part of the brake. The brake uses a set screw. The only visable attachments are a single screw in one of the original holes for the rear sight and the set screw under the brake.
The brake and the shroud fit flush against each other.
My retired friend that has been letting me use his lathe... Well his health just took a turn for the worse. I don't know if he is coming back home or going into assisted living.
Either way... it has pushed me to go buy a mini lathe... I was just doing a quick email check and heading out the door to go get it.
Wish me luck and say a prayer for Mr. Quigley...
You should see some new stuff next week. I got my 2250b and have some ideas... I must make it quieter... I just snyped one of the pesky woodpeckers that have been distroying my eves...
