Remember, I'm only speaking for myself.

First, I wouldn't buy any that you picture mounted. I ussually mount them when I go scope only, and the reason for the break is to hide the uglies inder the front sight when removed. Sometimes the sight can show in the optics, but mostly, IMO, they just look better w/ scoped guns and open sights removed. Just makes the package look cleaner. (sorry, nothing personal, just my feelings)

Second, Most are only for looks. Some add a convienant handhold for cocking. A little longer may be nice.

Third, I'd like to see it tappered more on the barrel side. A larger major diameter may be more comfortable for cocking springers.

Fourth, make them in different or variable weights. Then it could serve a purpose besides looks. Weight can help move the "sweet spot" if one would like to make gun "A" feel like gun "B". Could also tame a buckin twister at times too.

Now aren't you sorry you asked? Wink

Not sorry at all.

I welcome the feed back to improve design.

I have had several positive coments in both public & PM's forums, to the benifit of being able to keep thier original front sight.

These are designed to protect the barrel tip and change the tone to a nice "Pop". A well as direct the gasses up to reduce muzzle flip.

Funny you should mention the Outside Diameter... We were thinking the same thing.

I just purchased more steel tubing stock about an hour ago with a larger O.D. It's a bit heftier but it should machine well... Plus it adds some weight to it.

It is also thick enough to use a set screw for thoes who want a model with out the sight notch.

I also like your taper down idea. It wll be used with the thicker stock.

As far as the tip is conserned... Do you prefer a sharp taper or rounded design?

I am in the design phase and am selling the prototypes from the positive feed back from this forum as well as others.

Thank you for your input.

Joe

I have been looking for a crow mag style to
protect the barrel crown of my Condor while out in the
woods and brush. Something made out of steel
(preferably cro-moly), with no openings. Something
that mounts with a sleeve (no direct mounting screw
steel in contact with the barrel). A threaded end cap
would be nice also.

On another note...

I am keeping the fluting/venting in an upward or sideway, not down to prevent dust from coming up from the ground when shooting from the prone position.

Honestly not too sure if either would sway my buying decision. But, would think the rounded version would hold a finish better. Seems any sharp breaks / corners (even the transition to taper) looses the finish easier.

Like the idea of all holes / slots being on top to help hold the muzzle down. Is the practice effective? Thought about it, but never blocked the lower holes on mine to test the idea.

I especially like the idea of using steel. Many use aliminum, plastic, even wood. But the addition of weight on the extreem muzzle end I find to act simular to a stabilizer as seen on a compound bow.
Then again, I'm weird. I like "heavy". seems to offer a more solid shooting platform for me anyways.

I maybe interested in one without the sight groove. What diameter barrel you making these for? (I'm thinking a Diana 48 barrel)

What do you think of this one?

Please vote as "Other" so I can count it...

I call it my 1077-Magnum. Okay... call me a sell out... I shaved the front sight...

Look Ma... NO TIP. By a suggestion... More for balance than anything else...

Good Balance

Hidden set screw in the weaver mount.

Yes it's a "Weaver" brand, Model 418M
