I decided to mod and tune a Slavia 630, with a friend. In order to achieve this I'm selling one of the Norconia B2's and I'll take a look at a slavia in not too good a shape. It doesn't look bad but a trigger-spring is missing making the trigger not very predictable.
What I hope is to find a replacement spring(which is a challenge in itself) OR tuning the whole trigger group so that it'll go smoother on the big picture.
Maybe I can buy a donor Savia 630/631 without a barrel or something, so I can use some of those parts to make the 630 work better again. (630/631 are pretty much the same).
To add a cherry on top of the cake I'll also put on one of my own designed stocks, that will be fabricated by one of my friends, on the gun.
Another one of my friends can make metal parts that might need to be replaced.
The stock in the image is a crude idea of how it's goig to look.

I thought you preferred "simple"-look guns? The forearm on that stock design looks pretty large and almost takes over the gun when looking at it! How is it for handling?
Any specific plan, other than the cosmetics of course- what you're trying to get from the Slavia once the mods are completed? Just a decent, working gun, or some modifications to improve things?
And lastly- I assume Slavia's are pretty common in your area? They are around North America too- but being made in Europe I'd assume they must be fairly commonly found airguns there? |

To be honest, airguns of a single brand aren't very wide spread where I live. It seems that everyone who owns an airgun, owns a different one.
For instance, on an online marketplace you will find 2 or 3 Slavia's (different models)then a few Diana's, some Gamo's (they seem quite common around here) and a lot of chinese import, like the ones I own, the Norconia B2, which is also distributed as the Norinco B2, or whatever else they got.
In short, a lot of variety.
I like a simple design yes, but I recently started liking match-stocks too. And it's mostly cosmetics, and then balancing out the gun will take a challenge too.
What I expect from the gun after fully modding and tuning it? A 20 meters plinker, good looking, a nice balance (that's why that design isn't nailed yet and smooth cocking and firing.
I'll redraw the design a bit today, so I got a more definitive idea of how it's got to look. I hope I can get my hands on a diopter. I'll at least make some impressions with diopter and scope.
Got a bit of a question too. What kind of trigger-spring is used in the Slavia 630? Does anyone got an idea of measurements?
Edit: My friend the woodworker will make some different sized stocks in cheaper wood, to see how it will look. We will probably try some different tipes of forearm, and on the buttstock, I still have to decide. |

I already got that one.
No comments on the "designs"? |

I'd like to comment- but apparently the free image hosting server is tied up right now- so I'll have to check again later. |

Hi Broommaster
I do like the designs the only thing I'm not shure about is the thickness of the front stock, mind you if you hollowed it out you could keep your lunch in there when you are out shooting for the day.

I like it being a bit fat, and it'll probably look different on the real thing too. If it looks bad in real life, then we won't do it. We will first be making a prototype out of cheap wood. |

| It may just be the picture- but the rear of the stock/cheekpiece looks "short". If it is in fact "short," beyond cosmetics, wouldn't this affect the overall accuracy as the shooter would have to pull it into their shoulder and thus be bending their trigger arm in as well- re-arranging the geometry of their wrists/hands? |

Good question,
During the process of manufacturing, the prototype will show what the perfect length of the butt should be. We can always add an something to the lenth if I want it.
Edit: I think the rear looks quite short, because of the cheekpiece too. |

A little update:
The first trials for a stock in cheap wood will start about next month, around the 12th of Juli. Before that, I hope to have a lubetune on the Slavia.
I've read that a standard Slavia 630 can hit a target at 40 meters, if the lubetune worked out well. Off course, I will have to put this to the test. I'll order a lubetune set sometimes soon, or maybe even a full tuning set including a spring, piston seal, etc. I still need to come up with a budget.
Come to think of it, the standard 630 isn't a bad gun to own at all. Just make sure it's properly greased, and 20 meters isn't so far away anymore. A great plinker and so much worth it's money. (I got it second handed).
If you don't have a Slavia, get yourself one. I personally recommend the 631, which is a bit better then the 630. I couldn't get my hands on a cheap one though. |

People rarely say anything bad about the 630s and 631s- if you got a deal on a used one- good for you.
Definitely tell us how the gun compares (accuracy and power) "before" and "after" and some pictures once you're done. |

For sure, I really can't wait to get started.
It's just that I'm busy all day with internship for the next 2-3 weeks. I have to work for at least 94 hours. I've already had a few, but I'm not yet done. I'm also gonna try to get there earlyer, so I can fetch me a few hours extra. |
