I opted to put a Camo Form wrap on my TalonSS instead of painting it. It's non-stick so I can always easily remove it. I ran out of tape, but I couldn't really put anymore on there except for the handle, which doesn't really matter. The exposed areas have moving parts which the tape would interfere with. It's nice though. It will protect it from scratches and provide some padding and glare reduction.

I decided to get a nice back pack from the army surplus store which will fit and conceal the gun nicely when I go out on expeditions into the field. Not too many air rifles out there that you can conceal in a pack, so I am very please by how well this all came together.

Nice outfit you’ve got there Roger, let hope your fortunes have changed for the better now after all your problems, I can’t say I like the camo tape but if your going to get serious about hunting then I suppose it’s necessary.

One thing I am interested in is when you pump it up to working pressure, then shoot off the maximum number of good shots possible, how many pumps does it take to get it back up to working pressure?

Al

I like the idea that it can fit in a backpack. With a car full of wife, kids (aged 17 and 19) plus related life support systems, there just isn't room for a full sized rifle case. I'm happy your difficulties are behind you. Have fun.

Just out of interest Roger, is the fore-grip on the Talon SS removable? couple of small screws underneath maybe.

Nice to see how well it all fits into your back pack too though it might be a good idea to find a cover to go over the valve on the bottle to keep the crud out, or at least keep the valve facing up in the bag.

Good luck on your expedition Roger though you probably won't need it with that piece of equipment!

Stevie Thumb Up!

Yes, it's actually hallow and open on the bottom. I think the screws are on the side though. I went ahead and made a custom grip for it out of duct tape and cardboard. Sounds shoddy, but I did it a good job on it. I have big hands and I need a thicker grip and I wanted finger grooves too. I used camo tape so not only does it feel much better, but it looks cool too. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

It's kind of a crappy picture, and it looks worse than it is, but this is what I did to customize the handle. The handle has no finger groves normally so I cut cardboard pieces and duck taped them together and then camo duck taped the entire handle, making it camo and more ergonomic. I have big hands so those finger grooves not only make it easier to grip, but fill the handle out a little better for me.

This is the same desert camo wrap I put on my springers, so I just wanted to see how it will do on the talon. I'm pretty sure that will effectively camo it when I go hunting in the desert. Plus it matches my ghillie suit.

I've hunted rabbit and coyote down there before,
but didn't enjoy the heat.

When someone says they hunt in a desert, you might picture them walking in the sand dunes of the sahara, but its not necessarily like that. If you go early in the day or during certain times of the year then it is actually rather pleasant out. You can hunt dove, quail, rabbit, and even squirrel. I wouldn't hunt larger game like coyote and javelina with an airgun.

This time of year, I'll probably be hunting more in the high country where it is greener and cooler. I put a real tree camo wrap on it last night and it looks really badass. I like dressing my guns up and swapping out their "clothes" like they are barbie dolls or something. Too much free time I guess...

With a Condor bottle, a 24 inch .22 cal. barrel and
some 29 gn Eun Jins you could reach out to 50-60
yards and drop coyote. I've done it a bunch over in
Cle Elum where they were stealing sheep and calves.

Oh yeah, a Condor could do it. I mean, even a springer .22 at less than 30 yards could too. Coyotes are pretty small for the most part. I'm more into hunting game I can eat, but if its for pest control then its fine.

I did some long range rabbit shooting down in Sells, Az.
It was fun, but unbelievably hot.

Yeah. This time of year and into the summer...your only goal out there would be to get out of the sun. Even in the shade you'd just be sitting their sweating profusely. The heat is almost tolerable once you get used to it, but you have to get out from under the direct rays of the sun.
