This Crosman 2240 was my first tuning project, done many years ago. At that time I smoothed off the casting/forgeing marks on the grip frame and barrel band, and then left them brite until I figured out what I wanted to do. Yesterday I finally got sick of looking at the dull gray zinc, so I painted it.

The gun cost $25.00 US in 2002, on closeout at a K-Mart that was moving. What started as a simple trigger job got out of hand. I made the grips, the sights, the brake, and the trigger mods. I polished the bore with a tripoli/oil paste, and polished all the internals. At that time I didn't know how to crown the muzzle, so I did that today. It still has the plastic breech because at that time I didn't know there were alternatives, and because now I'm too cheap.

Yesterday I degreased first with brake cleaner, and then with foaming engine cleaner. I primed with a self-etching primer, and painted with grill/barbeque paint. Then I baked it in my wife's toaster oven.

And I got the toaster oven back in the basement before she got home.

A five-shot group with RWS Meisterkugeln 14 grain at 10 meters, from a rest. Not too bad for a $25.00 gun.
